Wolfenstein II - FAQ and Known Issues
Hey all,

Welcome to the FAQ and Known Issues thread for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on PC. Here, you’ll find important information about updating drivers, helpful tips, and other details.

I'm crashing when switching resolutions to Ultrawide or 4k (on Nvidia drivers 388.13 on a 1070, 1080 or 1080 Ti)

As we work to resolve this issue, a workaround is to perform the following: delete the local config file, change the color output format to anything but YCbCr422 or YCbCr420 in the NVIDIA Control Panel software. Make sure to restart the application following any changes.

I'm receiving a crash dump error
There can be different scenarios for receiving this error. First, be sure that you have the minimum specs required -- we've seen a lot of reports of this occurring with some laptops and other computer that do not contain at least the minimum specs. Also be sure to download the Iatest patch. This has resolved the issue for users playing in territories such as Japan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
• If you have hardware that meets minimum specs, but you have out of date drivers, please update your drivers and restart the game to see if that helps.
• If your hardware meets the minimum specs and your drivers are current, try to disable async compute from the advanced graphics options settings.
• Run the game in safe mode or exit the game, delete the config file and restart the title (config file lives here: C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\MachineGames\Wolfenstein II The New Colossus\base\Wolfenstein II The New ColossusConfig.local)
• Close down all applications running in the background
• If you have a supported i5 or i7 CPU, exit the title, disable igpu before playing again

If you continue to encounter any issues, please contact our support team and provide your dxdiag so we can work to troubleshoot further.

When will Episode Zero unlock?

For those who have preordered Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, or purchased the Season Pass, Episode Zero will unlock on November 7. The content will automatically update once it’s available on that date.

What do I do if Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is having performance, crashing or framerate issues on PC?

If you are experiencing performance or framerate issues when trying to play Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, you should first check to ensure that your machine meets the game’s minimum requirements here.

If you meet the game’s requirements, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Update Your Graphics Card Drivers

To ensure you are getting the best performance out of your graphics card, you can download and install latest drivers (based on manufacturer) here:

AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

NVIDIA: http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

Set Your Primary GPU and Power Settings

If your machine has multiple GPUs (such as many laptops), you should ensure your video driver is selecting the correct GPU for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus by opening either the NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Catalyst Control Panel and ensuring that Wolfenstein II: The New Colossusx64.exe is making use of your primary GPU.

You can find instructions for your relevant graphics card manufacturer here:

AMD http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

NVIDIA http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

Power saving features will sometimes override high-performance profiles to save battery life. When the computer attempts to save battery life, it will switch to the integrated card because it does not require as many resources to run.

You can resolve this by following the process below:

Press the Battery icon in the notification area of your taskbar.
Select More power options... and then expand the Show additional plans section.

Select High performance and then close the window.
Plug in your power cable to ensure that your battery does not run low while playing.

Get the Latest Version of DirectX

You should ensure you have the latest version of DirectX by downloading and installing:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Change Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus's In-Game Settings

You can improve performance by making changes to the game's in-game settings. To do so:

Is it possible to run the game on a 2gb graphics card at low settings are is the 4gb of VRAM a hard minimum?

So I have been having memory problems for about a month or so and they have been getting worse. Stuff like PC freezing in idle mode, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSODs and crashes to desktop.

At first the PC locked while in idle mode but as soon as I started a game the problems disappeared for some reason. Then I also started getting BSODs and CTDs when gaming...right when my most anticipated shooter of the year came out. The game doesn't crash while playing, it actually works really well but as soon as the cutscene that ends the first level appears it crashes to desktop. In other games it seems to happen when the game is loading....weird.

Specs are:

Corsair CS750W
i5 2500k stock
2x4 GB Corsair Vengeance
GTX 970

It is probably faulty RAM but I can't afford to buy new sticks right now. I would really appreciate some kind of temporary solution until I can play the game. I would really like to wait until Black Friday for some kind of hardware deal.

Why isn't there something like this post for the German Edition? Trying to force people to play a certain version and then forget about them? This is a serious question btw

When I play a few minutes - the picture just stop, there is a sound but nothing happens. Guys, it seems you have something wrong. Release the patch, please. The game is excellent, okay incomprehensible FPS-drawdowns, but such problems as stopping the frame - so sad.

- GTX 770 2GB OC;
- 16GB;
- Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 3,4Ghz

if that need.
