It was fixed back then, and the recent PC port is based on the latest code they had. They also improved many other things; including performance, out of map skips and monster spawn points. That's why speed-runners like the original USA version (NTSC) better, because the PAL version is so well rounded that they can't use many of the original collision defects to parkour and skip half of the game by diving into the skybox. One person's bug might be another person's feature. :)
TL;DR: Yes, it is patched.
Oh yeah one thing to mention, the first part of the game where you have to jump into the lava hole thingys. I actually got stuck between the spikey part of the hole and i couldn't get out and i had to restart that one part. Not a huge deal because it's early in the game and it's not hard to redo all of that. But if they reappear later in the game, i don't want to get stuck, I heard the save points are pretty far apart
The same thing happened to me, I had jumped onto the edge of the hole and got stuck in a jumping/falling pose where I could only rotate the character (and then had to reload). I'm guessing this was likely an issue in the original as well.
As someone who has played this game since release and who also loves finding out what makes thing tick, it would be really neat to see a bit of how the level deign and scripting is handled. It's great to hear that you have access to these source files.
