Darksiders 3 Patch #2 (December 13th) in Staging Branch
Changelog
Improvements:
  • Added new option for Combat. Upon loading a save or starting a new game, players will be prompted to choose between “Default” and “Classic” combat. “Classic” mode should feel more like previous Darksiders titles allowing Fury to dodge interrupt her attacks as well use items instantly. “Default” mode is the original combat mode for Darksiders III. The option can be changed at any point in gameplay options while playing. This has no other effects on difficulty or achievements.
  • Improved ledge grab detection on Fury so she can more consistently grab ledges.
  • Additional optimizations to help stuttering while streaming.
  • Added “Health Lurcher” item to Vulgrim that allows player to purchase refills for Nephilim’s Respite .
  • Added “Echo Mark” item to Vulgrim that allows player to refund their spent attribute points.
  • Added a few new checkpoints.
  • Raised the level cap to 200. Also, rebalanced leveling curve post level 80 as well as stat rewards..

Fixes:
  • Fixes for random crashes
  • General performance improvements.
  • Fix for Force Coral where it wouldn’t break correctly. This will also fix previous saves with this issue.
  • Fix for some checkpoints that weren’t registering.
  • Cycling difficulty options while in game will not affect actual difficulty unless it is changed.
  • Fix for Abraxis Health bar showing up but he is missing.

Balance Changes:
  • Fury will no longer take damage while performing an Arcane Counters.
  • Havoc Form does more Damage.
  • Increased Havoc Generation on Obscurus Enhancement.
  • Increased Health and Damage amounts on Fortifier Enhancement.
  • Increased Health Regeneration on Leviathan Enhancement.
  • Increased Lurcher Reward from destroying breakables on Leviathan Enhancement.
  • Increased Chance to Spawn Wrath when killing an Enemy on Rage Enhancement.

To access the branch we decided to put it in a staging branch first in order to make sure it doesnt break anything critical. The least we want is that people lose their progress or similar and there is always different behaviour out for users than in our testing environment.

Here is a guide on how to get the patch:
To access the beta please do the following:

Great job with the game and the post-launch changes. The change to damge while in counter state is much welcomed.

Keep the tweaks coming!

OMG. Classic combat is what I needed!

Sweet. I'm mainly looking forward to the perfromance improvements as I found your game and combat mechanics to be pretty flawless already.

i might need to do another run of this game and try out that Classic mode :P
and i like the "Fury will no longer take damage while performing an Arcane Counters."
one thing i wish is that we had a new game plus but maybe someday :P
Invincible counters, better dodge cancelling, and instant item effects...exactly what this game needed. Even though I'm down to the final battle on Apocalyptic, the default mechanics are very frustrating at times. Hopefully these changes will improve the fun factor.

EDIT: Now if we could just get a New Game+ that ramps difficulty with character level, I'd be satisfied. I imagine NG+ with scalable difficulty depends entirely on how the software is coded.

I'm excited to hear about the classic combat. But, even after this patch, I'm not able to even get the game to open. I keep getting a UE4 bug report screen. I've tried all the fixes I've been able to find, and tried the betas. Nothing has worked. It's almost been three weeks.

Took you long enough.:steamhappy:

Don't increase damage on item. Reduce the base arcane counter damage since arcane counter now give full invicibility, no need for more power creep.

You just add 2x power creep with arcne i-frames and increased bonus on fortifier. Not a great way for balancing.

One of DS2's weakness is the powercreep of Death due to items upgrading. Too much power creep get boring quick. Make it more like DS1 in term of character progression.

Increase damage of reinfored enemies or special enemies (like the invisible one) to reduce the power creep of arcane upgrade.

this alone single handedly will bring in more people back to the game and more than likely get people to buy the game.

Well then. Funny to find this thread few minutes after beating game on apocalyptic in its current (pre-patch) state. Well, I think I will do another playthrough some time ahead, just to compare how it was and how it is now.

Also, change the way arcane counter work. Make it auto target the nearest enemy infront of Fury or being hit by Fury.

The way it work right now is lame. If you dodge long range projectile, Fury will automatically counter-hit (with auto target) the long range enemy instead of freeaim or nearest or damaged nearest enemy; basically many moments she just instantly reverse herself and counter-hit onto nothing when fighting multiple enemies with some are projectile.

!!!

I can not play because: the subtitles in the game are uncut menus (eg options) games also, subtitles do not agree with voiceacting ..

After examining the collectibles edition guide book, I noticed that every area has a drawn map.
It would be a nice update to put those maps in game with collectibles attached to each area to see what we did or did not miss.
In example - we could unlock all the collectibles on map when we obtain the Mysterious Stone Sigil from Lord Of The Hollows. It would be a nice addon to the item usage too.
Or unlock the collectibles on map for the region, after we kill the boss from that specific region.
