Gamespy Alternative -> GameMaster
Hey guys,

Gamespy ends at the end of this month. That means you couldn't play Battlefront II online any more. But I developed an Alternative called "GameMaster" - it's an reverse engineered Gamespy Masterserver and give you the possibility to play online like before.

What have I to do to play after the end of Gamespy?

Just download our modified battlefrontII.exe and copy (if you have the steam version) the v1.1 client exe into your GameData Folder of Battlefront 2. After that just double click on this exe and play like before.

Hosting your own dedicated Server:

Just download our modified battlefrontII.exe (we have modified executables for both v1.0 and v1.1) and replace it with your dedicated Server battlefrontII.exe - you could now start your dedicated Server and play online.

More information here (german and english):
http://swbf3.de/index.php/Battlefront2MultiplayerInfo/?lang=en&selection=gamemaster

Download the executables here:
http://gameshare.co/gamemaster

Have fun and play fair :)

Hey thanks btw can you add these fixes in the dedicated server file? : http://swgohome.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6016
It would be very cool if you added these or if you tell me the offsets for your fix so I can add them in the fixed server.exe myself.
kalle May 24, 2014 @ 10:11am
@mikengo you don't need to quote my text, just answer ;)

It's not really different but Openspy does not offer Battlefront 2 Masterserver atm - and our Solution is directly for Battlefront II - you don't need to change anything except adding a new executable. Thats the easiest way for player to play online.

To add the fix for yourself just search and replace with an hex editor:
Find:
%s.ms%d.gamespy.com
Change to:
%s%d.gameshare.info
Find:
%s.master.gamespy.com
Change to:
%s.gameshare.info0000
Find:
%s.available.gamespy.com
Change to:
%s.gameshare.info0000000

You need to add "nulls" for each "0" in the hex code above. Then youre Server is good to go. I will add these fixes in the dedicated server file :)

kalle May 24, 2014 @ 10:20am

Ok, OpenSpy is not ready for public use for Battlefront II but the value of your 'GameMaster' is that is is an exe modification that works currently.

Got it!

@mikengo

You're right. But the executable modifications can be done by yourself If you do not trust my modified executable files. All you need is an hex editor and the lines I pasted above.

After you downloaded the modified files or modified it by yourself you're able to play like before - you will don't even notice a difference :)

Currently there are round about 90 servers online - mostly for Battelfront II v1.0 and just 5 to 10 for Battlefront 2 v1.1 (steam version) but I think that will be more after shutdown of gamespy.

Yes, that is all for client side: But why happens at the now-redirects for *.gamespy.com to *.gameshare.info server?? Is gameshare.info your 'masterserver list' server, or who runs it?

Yes because gamespy shuts down there needs to be a replacement
kalle May 24, 2014 @ 11:29am
@mikengo

gameshare.info is my domain and resolves to my master server.

@zero

just replace your server exe - but I could add it manually if you want me to.
