weird damage when reaching thalamus brain

This morning when playing Barotrauma, a crew member and I breached a thalamus-infected shipwreck. After cutting through a wall to reach the brain, three leucocytes attacked. Somehow during that confusion, my crew mate's oxygen bottles exploded.

I've never fought anything else that made my oxygen bottles explode, but I remember this happening on other occasions when reaching the thalamus brain.

Another example is that one time I reached the brain when suddenly my character died from Morbusine poisoning. Thankfully, that's only happened once and never before or since.

I am troubled and have questions. Is anyone else suffering weird damage that seems to happen when reaching the thalamus brain? Can the brain be doing some kind of mental attack on us? If not, why are these things happening to us?

Are you playing single or multiplayer? I am not aware of any attacks by the thalamus brain. Leucos can give you paralysis if they manage to hit you. If you died by morbusine find it more likely that one of your crew members has poisoned you. Oxygen tanks can explode when set on fire or hit by an explosion. Same as welding fuel. If you don't used explosives it's still possible that in some of the cabinets were certain chemicals that explode when in contact with water like sodium, potassium and lithium.

VERY late response, but the poisoning may have come from a "Europan Handshake" knife, which poisons enemies and friends alike when it shanks them.
