The game is cool if you never tried it I would.
However yes DX series will unlock along with all the others.
So you will run into all of it.
It is still possible to be competitive with a blue eye dragon build though. Because as you progress and from time to time they will allow you to select cards from a list which will include powerful cards to build a strong dragon summoning deck. If that is your thing.
You will still get people pendulum summoning ungodly monsters in just a few moves though.
You will have moments when your going "how in the world are they summoning all these monsters in one turn ?"
Even so once you get great trap cards anything can be defeated. It will still boil down to the luck of the draw with two good decks. Just happens a lot faster with some of the newer series.
I see, i wish it has a format era where i can face someone or AI who only use the duel monsters era, not really a fan of link or pendulum, imo i'm not gonna sit there watching someone summon their entire deck , but thanks for answering, i'll try it but i guess i'll stick to power of chaos, it has a lot of twists on the drawing card especially new cards with mods
That ship has sailed long time ago. Roughly three years ago. It was at it's peak before they implemented link and pendulum monsters.
Part of me wishes for that also.
This game however is likely one of the best card battle games there ever will be.
It's has so much content. But the AI can be brutal, like if it wants to win it will win. And there are times when it will want to win to show you how to improve. Just consider that it had to summon all of that to defeat you.
If you can take it and move on. You can learn how the other systems work.
But anyone who has played this for some time knows exactly what your talking about and where your coming from. It can be brutal and confusing and that isn't the best time.
In PVE you can still play DM/GX era only. Or see the other summoning methods by auto play:D
PVP got almost the same like the actual Yugioh over the years, but it's still a good singleplayer experience. I think specially if you know Yugioh by the anime and only played during DM era, Duel Links is still one of the better games to play Yugioh
so yeah, give it a try
This is the average duel links experience as someone who likes to play OG style:
me: plays a monster, sets a few cards. I'm done. takes like 30 seconds.
the opponent: Spends several minutes cycling through their entire deck special summoning every type known to man, cycling through links, xyz, and synchro.
me: goes pee, grabs a drink, (types this reply), comes back
them: still special summoning. finally finishes.
me: plays trap card and ruins their 10 minutes of summoning then wins.
heres an IRL actual example of the match i was in while typing. Right now a very common deck is windwitch cards via some green haired chick. like its probally 1/4 of my matches.
Me: plays toon bookmark, toon kingdom, a toon monster, toon briefcase, and Void trap hole. (Im doing toons right now cuz i think theyre funny. next ima do relinquished)
Her: special summons through her deck to bring out winter bell
Me: Void trap hole (destroys any summoned creature with 2000+ attack and negates effect)
Her: then proceeds with her turn to special summon for god knows how long to bring out winter bell. Takes out my toon and my makes me put toon kingdom back in my hand.
Me: replays toon kingdom, takes the monster she spent 20 minutes summoning with my comic hand card (if i have toon world up i can steal a monster and it becomes toon). smack a toon rollback on it (lets a toon card attack twice) and I win.
I honestly hate the PVP in this. its slow, boring, P2W, and EVERYONE uses the same exact deck. Honestly if you run a buster builder deck, youll clear 70% of the players. But that being said, takes awhile to aquire those cards if youre f2p like me.
I mostly play PVE, I honestly get more variety with the bots than actual players. Plus i can make meme decks and goof off while I unlock cards. They have some events that disrupt the meta which is cool because then you get to see some unique decks (sometimes).
TLTR: PVP blows, PVE is cool. yeah you can use all OG cards and play as/against the characters of each series.
(I play on my phone so I dont have steam stats but i come here to see the chatter and get codes)
