Tech Update: Shining Hope Main BOX!

The first Main BOX of the ZEXAL era is a powerful one, full of new themes and incredible cards that fit into a variety of Decks. Check out some of the strongest tech cards available in the Shining Hope Main BOX!

Number 39: Utopia
It’s no surprise that Yuma Tsukumo’s signature monster in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL was one of the most anticipated monsters to join Duel Links, and its impact is certain to be made in PvP Dueling. Number 39: Utopia has one of the simplest Summoning requirements available, since it can be Xyz Summoned from the Extra Deck by combining any 2 Level 4 monsters. Utopia joins the battle with solid stats of 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF, plus an awesome defensive effect that allows it to negate an attack by giving up an Xyz Material. All of this makes Number 39: Utopia an asset to a variety of Decks that use Level 4 monsters.

Gagaga Samurai
Like Number 39: Utopia, Gagaga Samurai is easily Summoned by combining any 2 Level 4 monsters in an Xyz Summon. Depending on the situation, however, Gagaga Samurai’s effect can sometimes make it the stronger choice when Xyz Summoning a Rank 4 monster. Gagaga Samurai has 1900 ATK, but can give up an Xyz Material to allow a Gagaga monster you control, including itself, to attack twice. That allows it to deal 3800 points of damage against a clear field without an Attack Point boost! Plus, Gagaga Samurai has another effect that allows it to protect your other monsters and your Life Points. When one of your other monsters is targeted for an attack while your Samurai is in Attack Position, you can switch Gagaga Samurai to Defense Position to change the attack target to your Samurai.

D.D. Crow
D.D. Crow has been a popular card in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME ever since its release over a decade ago, and now it’s finally in Duel Links! D.D. Crow is a Level 1 monster with a Quick Effect that lets you discard it from your hand to the Graveyard to target a card in your opponent’s Graveyard and banish it. It may not look like much at first glance, but if your opponent is counting on using certain cards in his or her Graveyard to win, D.D. Crow’s effect can be devastating. D.D. Crow works well against many popular cards including Shiranui Spectralsword, Invocation, and Witchcrafter Holiday, making it a tech card for you to consider using in your Deck.

Caius the Shadow Monarch
Caius the Shadow Monarch is a Level 6 DARK monster with a simple yet awesome effect. If it’s Tribute Summoned, you target 1 card on the field and banish it. This effect will allow you to get rid of just about anything your opponent throws at you, without even sending it to the Graveyard. As an added bonus, if the card Caius banishes is a DARK monster, Caius will also inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent.

Fiendish Chain
Fiendish Chain was previously available in Selection BOX Vol. 03, and has already proven its place in competitive Dueling. Fiendish Chain has recently been used in a variety of competitive Decks including Shiranui Decks, Dark Magician Decks, Blue-Eyes Decks, Elementsaber Decks, Invoked Neos Decks, and many other Decks. It’s a continuous Trap Card that negates an Effect Monster’s effect and stops that monster from attacking for as long as your Fiendish Chain remains on the field. Since just about every Deck relies on Effect Monsters to win, Fiendish Chain is effective at neutralizing a threatening monster when Dueling against just about anyone. That’s what has made Fiendish Chain so popular in the past, and what is likely to make Fiendish Chain remain popular moving forward. The re-release of Fiendish Chain in the new Shining Hope Main BOX gives Duelists a new opportunity to get Fiendish Chain so that they can add it into their Decks.

The latest Main BOX is packed with powerful cards that work into a variety of Decks. Which ones are your favorites?

Number 39: Utopia is looking good cuz you can get it free with yuma's skill.

on the side note: "element valkyrie" and "valkyrie of the nordic descendent" are valkyrie monsters but Duel Links decided to make all the valkyrie related cards from arena of sanctuary minibox not interact with them. A total waste of an investment that was the main showcase of that minibox. already reported this bug and nothing has happened yet.
"Element Valkyrie", "Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant" and the new Valkyrie cards are three different types of Valkyries in the original Japanese version:
Element Valkyrie - JP name: エレメント・ヴァルキリー (Eremento Varukirī)
Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant - JP name: 極星天ヴァルキュリア (Kyokuseiten Varukyuria)
Valkyrie Sigrun - JP name: ワルキューレ・シグルーン (Warukyūre Shigurūn)

for such a bottom trash archetype compared to bujins, blackwings, karakuris, and hundreds of others etc. why screw over english players and why screw over valkyries. either have them fix the translation on the english text or stop defending such a major screw up. I mean every time. even with such under sufficient banlists. also if you were to buy and play these in tcg version english version you could play them as such and the only lame complaint would be someone saying that the JP version is different but their complaint would totally be moot. oh wait dark magician girl isn't a dark magician cuz she is not a man in the JP version is the excuse. try harder konomi.
