Brutal Difficulty
I selected Brutal from the get-go, and it took about 30 minutes to unlock the second map.

Are the guests (or fish) harder to please? Do things simply cost more?

I'd appreciate more information about the different difficulties available.

Yes, I should add a tooltip which explains how the difficulty works. Here's a rundown:

Easy - Slight boost to prestige earned so you need less animals to rank up. Reduced fish death chance. Reduced equipment breakdowns. Capital costs are reduced by 50%. Salaries and food reduced by 33%

Normal - Standard

Hard - Slight reduction to prestige earned so you need more tanks/animals to rank up. Increased fish death chance. Increased breakdowns. Capital costs are 50% higher. Salaries and food cost 70% more (have to try harder to run at a profit)

Brutal - Same as hard except even higher fish death and breakdown chance. Capital costs doubled compared to normal and salaries and food cost 150% more (over double compared to normal!)

In hard and brutal staff management becomes much more necessary in order to keep staff numbers low and turn a decent profit. You also have to be more strategic about how many fish you buy because the costs are considerable.

I hope, you have more trouble earning money or things cost more.
Right now I'm swimming in money on normal difficulty :D

This was exactly what I wanted to know.

Brutal seems a lot more meaningful now; can't wait to continue the campaign.
