macOS / Dec 22nd - Steam issue with Cloud Saves (game data seems reset, don't see achievements)
It appears Steam may be having issues with their Cloud Save system that we rely on to allow you to tie your game save to your Steam account (so you can play on different computers, etc).

What does this look like when it happens?

Some players have reported when they open Clone Drone (often on a new computer?) their save seems to not be auto-downloaded by Steam. This can look like:

- Your settings are reset
- Your progress on chapters is reset
- Your in-game unlocks and trophies are reset

What is NOT affected?

Your Steam achievements and # of Last Bot Standing wins are stored outside of your local save, so there is no risk you will lose those.

What's the status of Steam investigating this?

We've reached out to Steam via partner support and the Steamworks forums and will update this thread when we learn anything new.

We've heard from multiple other games they are having the same problem, so it is likely outside of our control.

We will do everything within our power to help impacted players restore their save, and if that is for some reason not possible, help them restore a save with things unlocked so you don't need to re-play everything.

How can I disable Steam Cloud Save if I don't want to use it?

Note: Steam Cloud Save is how your game saves are able to be shared across computers (or if you play on a new computer). We typically don't recommend disabling it. Disabling it on multiple computers and re-enabling it may result in merge conflicts where you need to pick which version you want to override, which can be a risky action.

If you would not like to use Steam Cloud Save, you can disable it by going to:

Library --> Clone Drone in the Danger Zone (right click) --> Properties --> Steam Cloud --> Un-check Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Clone Drone in the Danger Zone

If anyone is seeing this issue and has a moment, we would love to see answers to these questions to help us diagnose what's going on:

- Was this on a new or different computer from normal? Have you ever changed computers you played Clone Drone on?
- What day did this happen?
- Did a pop-up appear when launching the game asking about a Cloud Save conflict?

nope, normal day, and i go in, and my settings, my achievments/unlocks, and evven story node chapters were lost

This was on the same computer I always play on.
It happened on Dec 22, 2020.
No pop-ups appeared.

Thanks for the extra info True Spino and 9RFCat9. This does seem to fit the pattern of being a Steam bug / outage issue that was maybe intermittent

1. One follow up Q: does it continue to wipe your data each time it loads, or does it now seem to store the game save correctly?

2. If any of you are able to .zip up your full game data folder following the instructions here: https://clonedroneinthedangerzone.com/backup and send it to us support@doborog.com I would be curious to take a look and see if it contains any backup files

Preface: I'm on mac
I found a folder in Application Support named unity.Doborog.Clone Drone in the Danger Zone. It had all my save data from the day before I got the bug. I had completed the hammer only challenge on that day, and I now have everything back except the hammer only challenge achievement. I'm not sure if it will continue to save new data, but it seems likely as after the desync new achievements (such as click bzz) were saved without issue. I'll keep you posted about anything else interesting.

Edit: I did not complete any achievements on the date of the desync, sorry

Update! No word back yet from Steam about the outage. As a workaround so that you don't need to re-play everything to get your unlocks, we've put together a save file and guide on how to restore a save that unlocks everything in the game: https://support.doborog.com/clone-drone/unlock-all-save

Thanks for everyone's understanding and patience with this, know it's really a bummer to lose a save! We're really doing everything in our power to ensure this sort of thing is not a common occurrence.

Hi all! Our contact at Steam is wondering what platforms our players who saw the Cloud Save issue were on. Do you play on macOS or Windows/PC? They have a theory it might be macOS but I think some of you were on Windows/PCs?

chapter 5 isn't appearing and i see people talking about glitches in chapter 5 so it is out and i bought the game and chapter 5 isn't appearing.

Chapter 5 is currently out on the Experimental branch. You can opt into it by follow these instructions here:

It's full of some possibly nasty bugs at the moment though. Largely finished, however. If you do choose to give it a go, let us know what you think!! :)

Hey there! :)

So to overwrite the macOS save files, you would extract the archive to:

"/Users/[You]/Library/Application Support/Doborog/Clone Drone in the Danger Zone/"

If you can't see the directories, you'll need to use terminal to enable their appearance.

To permanently show system files and folders in macOS:

a.) Open terminal as an admin.

b.) Enter the command (without quotes):

"defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES"

c.) Either restart Finder or reboot your PC.

The folders should be visible then.
