I get the "Running" in my Library issue, then the game just doesn't launch. Never seen a white screen.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon
download and unzip the archive into a folder, locate Procmon.exe, and run it, the filter popup, the first dropdrown, select prcoess name, then in the blank field dropdown, add
FFXII_TZA.exe
then click add, then start the game, a lot of it probably won't make much sense, but see what it says at the bottom, any access denied, or failed messages, on the right, it should list where the program is trying to access. Its a long shot, but would be interesting too know. Might also finger what its having problems accessing.
Visual C++ was not installing the DLL files. Every reinstall failed to install them. The repair option on the installation was failing to put the DLL files on as well.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE
If you are getting the missing x,y,z DLL files message when trying to launch from here and reinstalling Visual C++ hasn't worked, then try the following
Open Command Prompt.
Type "sfc /scannow"
It'll scan your Windows files for corrupted DLLs ect and replace them with a cached version. Its what I did and it then asked me to restart my PC as part of the process. Windows Update kicked in immediately and now it all works.
Tried a bunch of stuff, but the fix ended up being uninstalling the visual c++ 2017 redistributables and then installing the 2015 ones contained in the install folder.
Thought I'd share in case anyone else is googling this.
Thanks for that, but this was already mentioned and tried before in other posts.
The thing is, that this worked for a few people, but not for all.
I still recomend starting setting your screen to panorama, start the game and once it loaded the game switch back.
