Legends of Ultima (LoU)

We aim to be the *True Successor to Ultima Online*, with the Classic eras as our initial baseline, while forging ahead to craft a proper UO2, with the LoU Community and our collective vision as our guides.

Our team has grown significantly and we are actively building the UO Map, have released several UO Dungeons already, created several custom assets, and have the goal to be "UO Mapped" very soon!

LoU is non-profit, and we have no plans to implement cash shops, or become profitable. Our passion is to build and play the game that was never made, Ultima Online 2.

We are Heavily inspired by T2A/UO:R eras including the Skills and Towns you remember. Our Community directly influences our Feature Development, and we welcome all Play Styles.

PvP Notoriety and Faction play is intact and encouraged, Reds are welcomed, Guard zones match classic UO, and you will never see Trammel here.

TLDR - You MUST play this community server.

I played LoA official pre release, and stumbled across LoU during some down time for official and I’ve never looked back.

This server makes me remember what I loved about UO and expands upon that in to the modern era. If you liked or played UO you absolutely have to try this server, it’s incredible.

For anyone that didn’t play UO and is considering it, if you like playing open world, open loot games this is for you. It doesn’t hold your hand and everything you earn in the game feels like an accomplishment.

I’ve been playing on this server for about 12 months now and still enjoying new content and experiences. I couldn’t recommend Legends of Ultima any more highly.

Why is this better than official?

The official servers started out fun but just stopped making new content and really veered off from that UO vibe people were wanting. The developers on this community server put in a lot into offering new content and mimicking the UO vibe. We get new content seemingly weekly (dungeon Covetous released recently), and the devs are always in discord asking for, and actually listening to, our feedback.
I played official in pre-release for a few months and was about to quit the game untill I rolled on the LoU server. Hooked ever since. It's absolutely worth the time to check out. If I sat here and listed every reason it was better, I would run out of characters to use. :P

The official servers are as you said, no content, no variety, nothing. Okay, i'll try LoU server.

Unfortunately most people will buy and try this game and quit within a week. Most will be completely turned off by how bland, empty, boring the official servers are. The game devs really screwed up big time on this.

Following quests or a guide is great when you want to jump in game and achieve something pretty quickly. But after a while, it kind of gets boring, predictable, dare I say - not challenging.

Like many, I got bored of current WoW, ESO, BDO and Tera. All great games in their own right. But, I wasn’t free. I wanted to craft that bench I just walked past. I wanted to craft that armor the guard I just ran from was wearing.

In Legends of Ultima, you can do whatever you want.

Want to craft and setup a store outside of town for people to stop and buy goods before they head out on a perilous journey?

Want to be in perma-nature by farming resource materials (ore / wood) in order to sell them to crafters for the above?

Feel like sitting in town as a thief and steal loot from weary travellers while they’re trying to put that rare item into their bank?

Everything you do in legends of Ultima impacts the community. The only real downside to Legends of Ultima is the games depth itself. It can be extremely overbearing when you start without any UO experience, like I did.

However, the community as seen above is very welcoming. Jump into the LoU discord and ask questions. There are always people online ready to help you take your first step in-game.

sounds cool, man. But there is also a difference between being a theme park and being an empty sandbox with no variety or content (as the official LoA servers are) and then telling people "well you create the content!". It comes off as laziness/arrogance on the part of the devs.

I was just about to quit LoA again for the 2nd time now, but I'll give LoU a try first.

Legends of Ultima is awesome! If you are a fan of UO like me, you will enjoy LoU. There is pvp on the server, chaos and order factions, as well as, PKs. Crafting is pretty good. PVE is cool, I have a GM Tamer which is fun to play. Skills do take a while to train here, expect about a month of gameplay to have a fully trained main character.

downloading it now. I don't mind slow progression as long as there IS at least a sense of progression. The official servers are completely lacking that, as well as variety, as well as content.

LoU is great! Where LoA is slacking, LoU is picking it up! PvP, crafting, no extended guard protection, dungeons, meaningful encounters - LoU has it all. Official is all well and good, but if you haven’t tried LoU yet - try it, you won’t be sorry!

Pros:

If you want the nostalgia of Ultima Online, with an active and responsive Dev team. Play the Legends of Ultima Server on Legends of Aria Communities.

Player Killers - This is your spot - Almost all wilderness - Full loot - And some pretty infamous PKs to try and outclass...and infamous guilds to join.

PvE - The content is fun and challenging, and lots of events to jump in on. Rares to discover, Champion Spawns to overcome, and challenging dungeons to delve... as well as the thrill that you could lose it all if you're not prepared.

The development of this server has been frequent and it just keeps getting more tuned and more interesting week by week... it is quickly headed to be quite unique, with custom assets, custom world, and custom items, etc.

The dev team and community are very involved, very helpful, and a good mix of points of view.

Cons:

It can seem vacant when you start in a City - That is because most people are out in the world somewhere. - Join the Discord and you will quickly find out where to go and what you need to do to be on your way to what you want to accomplish.

You will be hunted after you lose your "Young" status. Either except the risk and that there will be some loss with your gains, or "get good".

Did they if they give people the ability to make their own MMOs.
like how i sucked at WC3 but loved the custom games the community made.
Maybe the devs would give them even more tools to work with.

First game I've played thats had me checking Discord all day long from work. LoA without LoU just wouldn't be enough.
