Crashes to desktop

My total war warhammer games have developed a bug, where after every battle the game stops working. No error messages or anything, it will just drop to desktop. This happens with all my current saved game sin progress and any new ones too. I have checked and all my drivers are up to date and have verified the integrity of the steam files. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm trying to avoid having to re-install as my internet can be patchy at the best of times and this would probably take an age to re-install.

Also, there are some semi-hidden settings under your Userdata which are worth deleting as you may have some issue with the settings that your game is trying to launch with. Can't quite recall where they're at...

Here, I think: C:\Users\[insert your username here]\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly

You may need to unhide a folder, and I'd advise copying your save files out of the folder.

Hi! Thanks for the reply.

No mods running, have stuck with the vanilla game all through.

I think I have the file you mentioned. Just not exactly sure what it is I'm supposed to be deleting/moving. Also, do I need to make a new saved games file? The game crashes whether it is an old game or new.

It came back all ok

So Im bumping myself up as I still am getting the crash. No mods still and have now done complete new reinstallation of the game. Anyone have any ideas?

Same here. It work perfectly three days ago. All of a sudden crashes to desktop. No mods, plain vanilla.

Others have reported increased crash frequency with the latest set of Nvidia drivers. It seems problems went away after reverting to version 399.24 or thereabouts.

Having same problem here, crashes at random points after about 5 or 10 minutes play. Was working fine until a few days ago. I have no mods running and PC spec is high. I tried a total deletion and reinstall and still get the same issue. Before I revert Nvidea drivers can anyone confirm that this will fix the problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, might be a bit late to the party. I too have been having lots of issues with my Warhammer II lately. After trying a full download and reinstall of both Steam and Warhammer II and verifying the game files, turning off all mods and deleting my modified.log file my game was still crashing to desktop every time I loaded a save or started a new campaign. However it seems that by disabling Blood for the Blood God DLC I have fixed the issues. Worth a try for those of you who are still having problems. Cheers.

I went back to drivers 3.99 and the game worked fine after that. But this shouldnt be the solution imo.

I'm having a similar problem. Brand new pc components, AMD 2700x 16GB DDR4 Gskill Trident Z @ 3200mhz, Asus ROG Strix 2080 - Will CTD at random intervals, although all related to a large loading event (battle, AI calculations on turn change etc).

I too am having this problem. its really putting me off buying any DLC for this game.

In my case it crashed after the first battle of the new Empire campaign and the game uninstalled itself. 55.7 GB to reinstal.. all over again.
