[linux] Achievements not working (with workaround/fix)

First, thanks for making the game available on linux!

There is a slight snag with achievements not working out of the box, due to the game not being able to find the libsteam_api.so library, which is located in the lib subdirectory inside the game's top directory. The run.sh script does add that subdirectory to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, but that would be required only if the game binary was linked against the library. Instead, the game attempts to load the library by opening it via dlopen (or equivalent), and expects the library file to be located in the game's top directory.

Moving/copying/symlinking the libsteam_api.so from the lib subdirectory to the game's top directory fixes the issue and enables the achievements.

this fix does not work on the Steam Deck sadly.

This worked for me on Steam Deck, got an achievement when I started a clean save and served a cocktail without spilling.

Great guide! Worked for me! Red strings club wasnt in the proper folder either. For anyone who needs help just go to steam in desktop mode and then click propertes>installed files>Browse. and it should be there

Thanks. But why is this still not fixed in 2026? We've known about this bug since like 2018. Doesn't look like something hard to fix. So why won't the devs do it? How can this game be verified on Steam Deck when achievements don't even work on it right off the bat?

I don't think the bug being 7 years old makes it more likely for it to be fixed anytime soon. Or at all.
