How to play Ni No Kuni 1 on your pc
As you know ni no kuni 1 is only available on ps3 for now. Thus the only way for u to play the game on your computer is to emulate it using a ps3 emulator

As you may know there is only one ps3 emulator and it's called rpcs3. It's still not perfected yet and it has been under development for many years

Rpcs3 is able to run some ps3 games fully to the end and some no. The good news is that ni no kuni 1 has FINALLY become fully playable until the end 😀 before there were some issues like the game freezes after cutscene ends and the game used to cause the emulator to crash a lot. Those issues have been solved now

Please see https://www.reddit.com/r/rpcs3/comments/8f25hg/ni_no_kuni_crashes_are_fixed/. The link says that u need to use version 0.0.5-6692 of the emulator. Download it from here https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?b. There are newer versions available but I recommend u use the version that I mentioned to play ni no kuni 1

After that u need the ps3 system files. Download it from https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps3/ (it's a .pup file). Run the emulator and go to file in the main menu then click on install firmware and select the .pup file

Finally you need the game. You can download it using torrents from the_pirate_bay (all one word and without _). do a search for ni no kuni 1 and select the one that says duplex and the uploader is thenoobish (it's 21gb so u need to be patient when it downloads lol). After the download finishes you will get a folder called xyz for example and the game files are in it. Put xyz inside the rpcs3 folder, run the emulator, go to file in the main menu, click on boot game, find xyz and click the mouse on it once so it's highlighted (don't go inside xyz) and click on select folder and the game should start and it will show in the game list. The next time you want to play the game just double click it from the game list

Next you need to configure the input. If the game is running then close it, go to configuration in the main menu and click on pads. If u want to play the game using keyboard then in the drop down menu under where it says player 1 select keyboard, click on the configure button, look at the default key mapping and make your needed changes and save. If u want to use a gamepad then instead of selecting keyboard in the drop down menu select either xinput or dualshock 4 depending on which gamepad you have. When you are done click on ok

Don't change the other settings in the emulator and keep them as they are. keep opengl as video plugin in gpu settings

I am playing the game now and until now i played 20 hours. There are some minor issues for me. You need a powerful computer with a powerful graphics card so u can smoothly play the game. My laptop is powerful but it's not that powerful. For me I am getting some static crackling sounds with the audio but it's minor and it doesn't happen a lot. In a few cutscenes the audio is out of sync with the video and this is because sometimes for me the video can't keep up with the audio because my laptop is not that powerful. I just skip the cutscene and watch it on YouTube if the issue happened. When I first started playing the game it used to randomly freeze for me during battles or after battle ends, but this happened because only because in the past I kept on overwriting the emulator files whenever a new version came out. I did a fresh install and the issue went away and game froze just once went i entered new town. Just save regularly in the game. For me sometimes the emulator crashes after I save, but it's ok. I just restart the emulator and load the save and I continue from where I left off. To stay safe make 2 saves instead of just 1. another minor issue is sometimes the emulator cant emulate colors properly so it will show white color and it looks very bright. if the game starts and u cant read the words "ni no kuni" clearly in the title screen and it's very bright then close the game, open gpu settings, tick where it says write color buffer and click ok, exit the emulator completely, restart it then run the game again and the brightness over ni no kuni should be gone and you can read it clearly. also during the game sometimes it shows white and its very bright like for example for me after i finish battle when in volcano then it's very bright for me and i cant see the characters clearly. if u didnt get very bright in the title screen then no need to turn on white color buffer and ignore it when it happens ingame

Enjoy the game 😀

I got it:)

What are the best settings to get fps boosted? mine is sunk at 20s. Thx.

the default settings are the best. in the cpu settings use llvm recompiler for ppu decoder and asmjit recompiler for spu decoder. in the gpu settings use vulcan and select your main graphics card or use opengl. i suggest keep it at opengl which is default setting. the game freezes at bit sometimes so it can compile shaders. for me i noticed that it did compile shaders more when on vulcan so it froze bit more so i returned it to opengl

also if there is a control panel for your main graphics card then force rpcs3 to use the main graphics card that is if u have interchangeable graphics so it wont use the intel card

i play at 25fps to 30fps. as i said u need a very powerful pc if u want to run everything smoothly

one issue is that most modern pcs does not have blu-ray. 2 of my laptops do but they are likely not strong enough. my HP desktop is going to be upgraded to 8 cores and it have blu-ray so i think i will delay this at least until i get it upgraded. good to have it here though.

u dont need blueray to play this game. the game folder will be saved locally on your computer and you will select it from the emulator

you need a powerful cpu and a powerful graphics card so u can run the game more properly, but it's not a must. i have alienware 17, nvidia gtx 880m with 8gb dedicated ram, 32gb ram, intel i7-4910mq 2.9ghz and i am running win 8.1 pro 64 bit. my laptop is 4 years old and i bought the highest available specs back then so my laptop can last me a long time and it has and until now i am not disappointed with it's performance. although it's now an old model and there are alienware 17 that have stronger cpu and stronger graphics card, but at least my laptop is able to run ni no kuni 1 and i am satisfied with its performance

at least test the game on your strongest machine and see how it works. if u are not satisfied then wait until u upgrade
of course i do. it is on a blu-ray disc. the pcs i have that have blu-ray have i7 cpus. one is 2.2 with gt 630m, one is 2,4 with gtx 770m and one is 3,4 with gtx 650 ti boost.

Thanks, OP. I have a rig similar to yours and did like you said. Opengl crashes sometimes, but Vulkan is way more. great game! Still want proper port, but this is workable. :)

try copying the game folder on to your hard disk and run the game from hard disk instead of bluray. test it on the laptop that has gtx 770m. i guess game running from hard disk is faster than game running from blueray. if you dont know how to transfer the game from blueray to hard disk then download the game from the website i mentioned up
that one have blu-ray.

I followed rpcs guide on how to make ISO, this came off my blu ray and seems to work as well as I can expect. Crashes can happen anywhere from 1 minute into the game to two hours later. No real pattern. Great game and I'm glad this is one option, other than hoping ten year old PS3 still works.

it should not randomly crash a lot. before there was a glitch in the older versions of the emulator that made the emulator crash a lot so the game was unplayable. now it crashes much less and it is playable and the glitch is fixed

for me it sometimes crashes immediately after i save. it happens once like every 30 times that i save. also very rarely it crashes as soon as i open the save menu and it crashes before i get a chance to save. if you are playing the game and it is randomly crashing in other areas then you did something wrong

try making fresh emulator folder by extracting this version of the emulator https://ci.appveyor.com/project/rpcs3/rpcs3/build/0.0.5-6692/artifacts and install this firmware in the emulator https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps3/ (u need the latest firmware version because the game crashes in older versions). finally just transfer the home folder which dev_hdd0 folder in your old emulator folder to the same location in the new emulator folder (that transfers your save files). try running the game and hopefully if it was crashing a lot for you before then it should crash less. if still crashing a lot then try downloading the game from where i mentioned up by using torrents and run the downloaded version instead of your iso

any cheats?

i looked into it. currently rpc3 has no cheat support so u add cheat codes or cheat files to the game

there is another cheating program called cheat engine. it will modify memory address in games. for example say i want to change money and give myself more money in a windows game. i have to do a search in cheat engine on the current money value and it will catch some results. i then change the money value in the game and then filter the results in cheat engine and i search for the new money value. i keep doing that until i find the correct money value result and i change it in cheat engine and it will get changed in the game. there are also cheat tables for cheat engine and someone has already found all the correct values and u just have to change the value that u want

unfortunately cheat engine cant catch values in rpc3 just like that. u need to use something called big endian. read https://fearlessrevolution.com/threads/how-to-add-float-big-endian.78/. do searches on how to use cheat engine on rpcs3

anyway u dont need to cheat. set the game on easy and during the battle more restorative gems will come. as u know in the game u can catch monsters and make them fight for u. keep on playing the game until u get the dragon and u get ability to fly. go and catch a monster called dinoceros (do search on ni no kuni dinoceros). that monster is overpowered and he maxes out quick and he can one hit kill anything in his way and even u can easily defeat the final boss of the game. some people avoid using this monster because it removes the challenge of playing the game thus if u want to cheat then use that monster :)

I's say in 20 hours of play, ten crashes, most in vulkan, so I switched to opengl and it's alot less. Thanks for the information, I'll go that way if I hit a brick wall. Also, splurged and set resolution scaling to 200 percent, so I'm pushing a bit :)

ok :) enjoy the game

Hi, i followed your steps, but for some reason, as soon as i choose the game difficulty, the games loading screen has the icon turn to face you, then it stops turning, any ideas?
