New Generation, and 2nd Impact have monaural audio quality in this collection.

New Generation (original arcade):

2nd Impact (original arcade):

Even this guy thinks something is off with the sound quality:

Why is this? Did Capcom mess something up during the emulation process for this collection? As far as I’m aware, the only ones that don’t have stereo audio for their arcade version are:

- World Warrior
- Champion Edition
- Hyper Fighting
- 3rd Strike

New Generation, and 2nd Impact sound terrible here. Think Capcom will patch this?

In the last video, the guy thinks "something sounds off" with the audio because by his own admission he was expecting the remastered soundtrack (which wasn't present on arcade), not the compressed CPS3 soundtrack.

Is there other footage available of New Generation/2nd Impact yet? There's a chance that you just happened to watch a video where the audio was downmixed into mono.

Edit: Wait no, this video has binaural audio... so if what OP says is true, New Generation/2nd Impact are incorrectly monaural. That might be something worth reporting in the technical support forum if the problem is still present on release.

Yep, it’s supposed to have binaural sound quality. I made sure to use headphones while watching these videos to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind.

Guess we’ll see Tuesday. I’m guessing the PC, XB1, and Switch will all have the exact same sound sound issues with New Generation, and 2nd Impact, too. Wouldn’t this be on Digital Eclipse to fix? They’re the ones who developed this collection.

Honestly, it’s gonna be hard to enjoy these two in their current state, as music (and it’s audio quality) is a HUGE part of the experience that draws me into certain games while playing.

Capcom and Digital Eclipse communicated closely during the development of the Mega Man Legacy Collection patches, I'm sure they'll do the same here; they're not just going to release it and leave it to rot.
*edited my last post, just as you posted yours... lol. I sure hope they do.

It does sound like Mono.
If Digital Eclipse figured that out way too late, they might apply a fix in the day one patch or through a hotfix update.
In either case, better report that problem in the technical support thread once it's up!

I'll give them credit, there is a day one patch coming. Hopefully we see some support from DE, I don't think they'd want to take the rep hit by dropping and running with such an important release.

Not sure how I missed your post, but wow. That is one huge F up on their part to not notice this while play testing the collection. Awful.

DMCHD has similar problems. they have not been addressed, so don't expect this to be either. these recent collections appear to have zero budget allocated. post-release fixes are unlikely. mind you, i've gotten dozens of hours of frusration/enjoyment out of DMCHD despite multiple bugs and errors. depending on how OCD you are, it might all be passible. i hope so, because i really doubt this will get any patches.

Okay this is annoying in the music gallery the music IS in stereo but not in the actual game this for both New Generation and 2nd Impact meaning the games are set to mono on purpose oh and btw Stereo is the default in New Generation and 2nd Impact.

I honestly hope this was an oversight that will be corrected in a patch. Setting it to mono, on purpose, would have been a sleazy, and scummy thing to do.

Not sure what that would accomplish, especially since the music in these games are some of best in the franchise, and in gaming history, period.
