Want to get rid of this effect anyone know how or what causes?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3007146964

As title says I still haven't worked out what causes this effect, but it drives me crazy when it kicks in, and i can never figure out how to get rid of it, I originally thought it was to do with energy gain but that's not the case, what dev thought it would be fun to add such an annoying effect to players characters,
I know this is not a new thing, but how do i get rid of it and if any one knows what causes it then please let me know so that i can avoid it like the plague i am more than happy to stop using any potions or meals that cause this effect because no buff is worth the punishment to my eyes :)

If that is a Witch class it could be one of your Energy regen spells.

However....

heya Tsel long time lol
Erm nah it's my lahn, the effect is not class specific, i have had it happen on all my classes, just not figured out what causes it lol, the active buffs are in the top left of the pic, the reason i can't figure it out is because the buffs listed are my usual type buffs and the strange glowing swirling effects don't always happen, and why i originally thought it was maybe related to energy gain, but in the pic you can see i have full energy when the effect started.

The effect stops by itself after a period of time (quite long) i just want to know what causes it because it plays havoc with my old eyes lol

I'm not sure which effect in the screen shot you mean, but if you're talking about the swirling lights and/or smoke (depending on class) around the character, that's a big part of why I play with Effects Opacity as low as possible. When effects opacity is set high I can't even see my character. The swirling is worse when you're in combat mode, so if you're seeing it go away after a while, maybe you've exited combat mode after which it dies down.

Some classes have it super bad, but even my guardian "smokes" a lot even with lowest effects opacity settings.

P.S. As the topic is about the Lahn's effects, this is my Lahn with effects opacity set to 30% (the lowest).

Heya Karna :)
It's not from the combat effects :) i know them all too well lol
I was doing lifeskills (cooking) I was watching evildousharms patchnotes vid tabbed back to game to see my character as you put it smoking heavily lol its like a white/blue swirling smoke effect agreed on that one lol :)
i've also had it happen whilst fishing so thought maybe when i gained a lifeskill level but nope I've checked and it's not that lol
It's not something that i see happen a lot just when it does it really bothers my eyes and always left wondering what i have done differently to make it happen lol

One of the reasons I never played my Kunoichi very much is she smokes super badly. I can't even see her when she moves, she turns completely black. I don't know why the dev team thinks effects whch obscure the character are pretty.

I'll log into BDO and test a bunch of my characters to see if I can both duplicate and identify the pattern (I know you also have 17 characters, haha, but I also know you want to stick to your Lahn as much as possible).

Also, fyi, the sorceress is one of the characters who smokes badly, though mine is currently underwater in the ocean so not very good for testing right now, haha.

FInally, whlie some classes like Guardian and Lahn smoke black, I recall at least a couple of classes smoke colors (maybe Woosa if I remember correctly?). Or maybe it's related to outfit?

H again, my friend(s). So far in my testing I'm seeing a pattern that within the same characer the color of the smoke coming from her changes depending on what costume/outfit she's wearing. But I'm having trouble being sure due to my vision impairment. If one of you can also test different costumes I'd appreciate it. (Edit: You also need to change the weapon costumes.)

If I'm right, the costume is the culprit for the bright colorful lights on your Lahn, Mac . Thanks :)

heya kana thanks for doing some testing but can 100% say it's not my costume :) i haven't changed my costume at all :)
The effect is def from a buff i have been experimenting and it's either the secret book of florin (pearl one) or potion of swiftness that causes it :)
I am swinging towards the book of florin :) as i use swiftness potions a lot, I have the fairy auto use items setup for lifeskills and combat skills and when doing either i just load the profile so all the buffs hit at the same time, when the swiftness renews after 20 mins, it don't start the smoke, but when all the 1hr buffs renew it does start the smoke, only difference to my normal lifeskill buffs is i have a load of florin books saved up and been using them :)

Okay that's good to know, thanks, Mac. Although I have well over 300 secret books of florin, i've only ever used two because they're an hour each, and i rarely need more than 10 or 15 minutes so never bother wasting any.

I did confirm, on a side note, that when my Guardian has a blackstar weapon out she glows red flames, and when she uses a costume over it the flames are just black smoke. So while costumes seem to have an effect, I'm glad to know the bright lights you're seeing are that secret book of florin which if I haven't used in 13600ish hours I doubt I'll ever use, haha.

But yeah, that does look incredibly annoying.

bugger it's NOT the florin books lol
it's just renewed and no smoke, so that only leaves the magic verdure draught that it could be lol i have been switching all the buffs on and off to throw out the sync and got to wait for that to renew now and see if that causes it, if it don't then i got no idea lol because when they all renew at once i get the smoke lol

NOPE!! it's not the magic verdure draught either, it just renewed and no smoke :(
I'm confused because when i turn on the auto use option and all the buffs renew at the same time i get the smoke effect so i give up and say again i can't work out what damn buff gives the smoke effect lol i have gone through each of the buffs individually and none of them have started the effect.
The last option i can think off is you only get the effect when you apply multiple buffs in one instance, anyway i look at it i can't figure it out lol

Mac, the next time you're glowing those colors, would you be willing to try removing all your Lahn's weapons, armor, costumes and accessories?

Oh, also you mentioned something about CM buffs or event buffs lately? Is it possible your Lahn was blessed (cursed) by a CM?

p.s.Oh! Also try switching off the 32K title? Maybe the rare title is making you glow?

Heya karna :)
Right you are not getting what i mean about the smoke effect, it's not a permanent effect and it is 100% not connected to costumes :)
The white glowing swirling smoke only occurs when lifeskilling and using the fairies auto use items skill, it lasts around 15-20 mins :) then doesn't come back, until the fairy applies more than 1 buff in 1 go :)
So it is def connected to using the buffs like tsel said :)
the problem is when using the different lifeskill buffs, individually applying them 1 at a time the smoke doesn't happen, but when i use the fairies skill and auto use the buffs, the fairy applies them all at once and that's when the smoke starts :)
so it looks like it's something that happens when multiple buffs are applied together :)
