Will Ubisoft be pulling online features and DLC in the future like it is doing with older games?
Looks like Ubisoft is pulling online multiplayer and DLC from older AC games and other games from 1st September. Could they do this in the future to AC Origins and Odyssey?

Eventually? Yes, but not anytime soon.

It's indeed frustrating, but are you honestly expecting a game that requires online connection to survive 50 years?

To be honest I dont care for the multiplayer aspect, but what I feel is absurd is single player DLC that is reliant on an online connection, so when Ubisoft discontinue the server, then all DLC is lost. DLC that has been paid for. I think preservation of older games are important as a portion of the game will be lost forever. Is the coding so bad that it cant be changed so that offline access is impossible?

First they gave me a evasive response just linking to an article that mentions only unlockable content (like skins and maps).

I insisted and asked again about story dlc and this was their response

Unfortunately, all the DLCs for Assassin's Creed games with discontinued online services will be unavailable once the online services are shut down.

They will not be able to be purchased and even if you own them, they will not be accessible.

Only the standard game will be available. I apologize if this is causing any inconvenience.

So yeah it sucks.

Yes. 100% absolutely yes unless there's going to be a lawsuit over the stunt they're pulling right now.

Im going to stop playing my ubisoft games and uninstall....Whats the point if they pull the DLC for any game in years to come?

In fact ubisoft already discontinued support for the animus control panel in Origins. It broke when ubisoft released their fifth rebranding of their launcher and they literally said they are not actively developing the game anymore so it will never be added back.

- if other companies can do it, why whe shouldnt expect Ubi to do it too? It would not be hard to produce a patch that will bypass online requirement. Yet they staunchly refuse to do so. Instead prefering to ♥♥♥♥ up their games and essentially steal from their customers. F Ubi.

interesting news.. what the heck do these criminals think they're doing?? Now that I have the AC Origins gold edition, that would mean its dlcs would ultimately become obsolete one day, even though I paid the full price for the game! I myself don't care about their multiplayer ♥♥♥♥, but I do hope for their own good they release a full offline content patch in time!

The games they are pulling online features from are from like 10+ years ago and probably use an outdated online interface and not the new one they are using now. So it was probably costing them more money to keep them going then they were making in sales from the old games. These new ones will be shut down eventually as well, but not for a very long time.

Just hope we aren't having the same conversation in a few years time when they do the same with titles like AC Origins and Odyssey!

If you don't want to then right now is the time to hopefully get it solved.

Yes, they will and other companies will probably adopt the same tactic.

and yet Guild Wars 1, which has not received any major updates past its third expansion continues to have access to it, Mind you the 2nd MMO Guild Wars 2 released in 2012 years after the 2005 Predecessor and has been the same companies focus for a decade, i dont buy it that its costing too much to keep running, what i do buy is that its the plan all along. What irritates me the most is that Consoles PS4/5/Xbox/Switch has all received the "Ezio Trilogy" Remakes, Yet PC has not gotten that treatment. and this comes what 3 months prior to skull and bones? im supposed to go buy something after a giant purge? yea they can shove it
