Proof that VMPRotect DRM is destroying the performance of Assassin's Creed Origins
Okay people, after reading and re-reading, seeking the cause of the game's terrible performance, I ended up finding definitive proof that Ubisoft's entire story about the game being too intensive and made to use 100% of a high-end CPU is a lie and here's how anyone can do it.

Start with the following (I did it with an Xbox 360 controller):

Put your game on 30 FPS, your rig doesn't matter, just do it

Let the benchmarking application run.

Press F1 to open up the performance painel of your rig.

Notice that your benchmarking has no effect on the FPS cap even if you set it to 30 and runs perfectly depending on how good your computer is. Now run the benchmark again and, at any moment, move the analog stick, press a button, anything and presto, the game's performance drops to 30 FPS and your CPU begins to get taxed beyond the necessary compared to the previous setup.

Take into consideration this Reddit post on the matter:

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/79pzwi/proof_that_assassins_creed_origins_uses_vmprotect/

"While I was playing, I put memory breakpoint on both VMProtect sections in the exe to see if it's called while I'm playing. Once the breakpoint was enabled, I immediately landed on vmp0, called from game's code. Which means it called every time this particular game code is executed, which game code is responsible for player movement, meaning it's called non-stop."

You can see firsthand, with no need for third party software, that DRM is impacting the performance of a game we bought legally. They try save their pockets from "pirates" by hurting us.

I'll leave this here so any Ubisoft developer that reads this post know that their PR talk is a lie, VMProtect does have a negative impact on our game experience and, as a legitimate consumer, I demand it to be removed.

Like there is not enough Crap threads like that !
50+ hours game play, zero issues, 1080p ultra-high, 50+fps in Alexandria, 60+ out about.

Kudos to you man... I bought the game, and I want to play it like you... But i can't because of this♥♥♥♥♥♥DRM.

Specs?

My Specs aren't that great, but they can run Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Doom, Deus Ex MD, etc ... with a good 45/60 frames per second and my cpu does not fry an egg.

Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz
8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666 Mhz
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z97X-Gaming 3
3071MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

More towards the end of the year, I'm going to change my video card to a ZOTAC 1080TI + 32GB ram ... Only that taking into account what I'm reading here on the forums, neither these improvements will make a difference = /

We need more threads like this. The game itself is great and i'm enjoying it but the performance issues are way too bad that I have a tough time playing it :/

I can't play it because i fear that any moment my PC can get on fire -_-

:steamsalty: But Seriously, why you don't try to repeat the steps I told in my OP just for you to see if I telling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t or not.

Sigh, this is not DRM fault. Its a problem when you move mouse in menus and benchmarking while having a controller plugged in with 30fps cap. Go into a menu, make sure you have 30fps cap and controller then move your mouse and the fps will jump up from 30 to 60. Soon as you use controller again it caps the fps back to whatever you had.

I didn't use my mouse in any moment. And i'm talking about the CPU performace displayed on the graphs.

Ok I reread your post and I misunderstood it sorry. If I understood right is I must just run a benchmark from options, open in game overlay and use controller's input? Will get back to you if I see the same problems.

The problem I mentioned not the same as yours sorry.

I did this and mine seems to be bugged. Shows 0% cpu usage across all cores with 3835 framescore. My CPU frames timing was staying between 30-33 with little to no massive increases or drops and was moving analog and spaming buttons. Should I uncap before doing this? I was running the benchmark at 30FPS in game cap.

Strange... I will try to repeat my process now... Maybe it's because i turned off virtualization from my BIOS, i don't know.

Agree, game is great but that processor issue needs to be solved!

I did it capped and uncapped. Seems the benchmark doesn't cap at 30FPS unless you press the stick. My cpu load was actually quite lower after it was capped. Not sure what I am supposed to see but it looks like moving the stick just made it cap at 30FPS. Not sure how that proves "DRM IS GOING TO KILL ALL CPU'S"
