STFU It would still be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grind.
Hunting: chasing and killing an animal or bird for food, sport, or profit ( https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/hunting )
You are chasing and killing an animal, doesn't matter whether you're riding another one to do that or not, you are by definition hunting said animal.
It has never been hard to find monsters, just frustrating (for example, when one runs off just after paint wears off so you have to go looking) and a bit boring (running through zones and loading screens following a monster that has decided it wants a change of scenery). there are even hunts that are in single arenas, cutting out running anyway (Shagaru magala, Nakarkos, Xeno'jiiva)
They haven't taken anything out of the game by adding this
Im glad that's gone too.
I have nuanced opinions.
I know that's hard to believe.
I use it sometimes when I'm lazy, prefer not to use it otherwise.
I get dropped in front of the monsters most of the time anyway so what difference does it make?
It can easily be both.
Maybe you guys are just far too invested in making sure one person on the internet doesn't have an inconsequential negative opinion about a thing you like.
Yeah because following the monster was really difficult to do XD. I think it matchs the story of you becoming a better hunter. I love the new system.
You literally calling a lot of people casul for using trailriders ffs. Sniffing your own ***.
ah, yes, the good old "it's like, just my opinion, so deal with it" argument.
please.reread your OP and tell me you didn't expect something in return.
there are different ways to word ones opinion, you went the wrong way right off the bat.
I can't speak for anyone else here, but generally I'm annoyed when someone presents a poorly constructed argument and doesn't take the time to look at it from multiple angles. It sounds like you didn't really think this one through.
Your tailrider complaint is invalidated by 2 simple facts:
1. The feature is entirely optional
2. Capcom said that they wanted to appeal to more casual players with MHW. They did and it worked; it's the best-selling game in the company's entire esteemed history.
Palico farms in 2-4 didn't give you a fraction of what you can get in MHW. And that doesn't change the fact that other items that were previously gather/craft only are given to you for pennies on the dollar in the trade hub.
Never mentioned monster spawns. Even if I did, it doesn't change that learning the map was more important in previous titles. Now, damn near everything is autopilot. They gave us these huge levels and instead of rewarding exploration and note taking, they say "here, everything is automated." And that's not even getting into the mounts.
MH is absolutely not the same experience. They've ripped half the game out of the IP by giving the player all the items they need so they can just jump into the fight. In the older ones, gathering and exploration played a huge part in the game. That was part of the hunt. Now it's deemed a "time sink" and we may as well fight every monster in an arena since none of the other level features matter.
If that's the case, eventually MH will be a "clicker" phone game in another 10 years.
Half is over doing it. The stupidly long hand holding of other games was horrible. Like they literally seem to me to be made to teach 2 year olds how to play the game. Go take this ticket here. Please I don't want to go round giving out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tickets.
