Official Sept 6th Update 1 Performance Feedback Thread
If you are having performance issues after today's September 6th patch, please share with us a little information about your hardware so we can work to improve how the game runs. Please ensure you test on this patch before you give feedback!

With the new patch, Sandstorm now offers a lot of ways to customize video settings, so please be sure to fine-tune quality and performance depending on your system specs. In particular:
  • Texture Streaming Pool Size needs to be adjusted depending on your video card. We recommend starting low and increasing to see what your GPU can handle. Setting this too high will cause noticeable hitching because your GPU is overloaded.
  • Shadow Quality as well as Dynamic Shadow Resolution and Cascaded Shadow Map Resolution have a pretty sizeable performance impact, so we recommend lowering these settings as much as possible if you’re experiencing performance issues.
  • Full Screen display mode is really important to ensure you’re getting an accurate depiction of performance. If you are struggling with performance and haven’t already ensured you are in full screen mode as was advised in the last hotfix announcement, we highly recommend you switch to full screen mode as soon as possible.
To see your system specifications, go to your Control Panel, System and Security, and then System. Or view your DxDiag file (see below). Please include as much of the following information as possible:

1. Operating System
2. CPU
3. Graphics card
4. RAM
5. Hard drive
  • The one where the game is installed.
  • Need to know its model and whether it is Mechanical or SSD.
6. Describe the symptoms of your performance issues.
  • Consistently bad framerate (provide numbers if possible), occasional stuttering, lagging only during certain actions, lagging in certain parts of a map, etc.
7. Your DxDiag file
  • Search your computer for DxDiag, run and export results as a .txt file.
  • Please use https://pastebin.com/ or a similar site to share.
8. Screenshots of your video settings
  • With Steam overlay enabled you can take screenshots with F12, upload them to your Steam Library, and share here.
  • Alternatively, you can use http://www.imgur.com or a similar site
9. Your render mode
  • Are you in fullscreen, borderless windowed or windowed mode?

As you guys asked, here's my feedback:

1. Operating System: Windows 10 64Bits
2. CPU: Intel Core i7 870 (Overclocked)
3. Graphics card: GTX 1060 6GB
4. RAM: 16GB (DDR 3)
5. Hard drive: Hd Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB

Well, the texture loading seems to be fixed here, tho, the FPS is lower,
I was taking around 40 ~ 80 (Which wasn't good at all, but ok), now I have 30 ~ 60,
Stutter still there but smoother and it's not so often anymore.

Fullscreen

I would appreciate a perfect setup to get some FPS, I realize my CPU is kinda old, but I can play everygame on ultra no problem, except for this one and Vermintide 2 tbh (even BFV beta), tho I gotta thanks you guys for the SA server and I really hope to get some feedback about the best config to play it on my machine.

Turning the settings you mentioned all the way down helps but does not completely get rid of the stutter. I shouldn't have to turn them all the way down though considering I have 6GB of VRAM (1060 6GB, i5 4690k @ 4.5GHZ)
SpartanViperz 6 SEP 2018 a las 20:07
It seems very glamorous for most others but I am getting stutters where I was not getting before, Just hopped in a game of crossing push and I'm a little annoyed because my game was running perfectly before, infact alot better it seemed than other people who had better specs than me, I have also tried to disable all of the new graphical settings but it didn't seem to help. Unless I have some dodgy setting option turned on which I did not know I didn't have before or something.

This patch seems like a step forward for many others but slightly one backward for me and IDK why? Maybe just an unlucky streak of instances of bad performance, I just wanna doubt myself that my game is performing worse than it was previously as much as I can but I am unsure.

For reference my specs are:

Win 10 64 bit
I56600k
GTX 960 4GB
16GB DDR4 RAM
Mechanical 1TB harddrive (not sure the model, but the DXdiag should have it in there right?)

My dxdiag: https://pastebin.com/9BaPrLbG

https://gyazo.com/1f3fef8587ca47cf6e6d01343d2af4b3

Render mode: Fullscreen (used windowed mode to take Gyazo pictures)

Hope this helps, and wish you luck in optimising the game, I know its an annoying process, all the best.

Run much better now, thx for update!!
Kiloton 6 SEP 2018 a las 20:43
The hitching is much worse than before, where it was working almost perfectly on high settings. The controls lock up when it happens. It happens even when FPS is well above 60. The hitching was reduced a bit by using the minimum graphics settings, at the cost of the game looking hideous.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i5 4590 @ 3.30GHz
8192MB ATI Radeon RX 580 Series (MSI)
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
465GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500G SCSI Disk Device (SSD)

EDIT: Not much difference whether I'm playing on the lowest graphics settings or on high. I get upwards of 100fps on low and 60-70 on high. The hitching and unresponsive controls continue to happen anyway. Most often in dense areas with lots of objects and buildings, I think.

Getting occasional stutters here and there.

Some texture flickering occassionally as well, most frame drops happen with: Helicopter call ins, Smoke & Artillery call ins.

But the Patch Overall does seem better. Keep up the great work :)

Win 10 64 bit

3. Graphics card - GTX 680 2GB

4. RAM - 8GB DDR3

5. Hard drive - 1.82TB WDC WD20EARX-00PASBO HDD

6. Describe the symptoms of your performance issues.
Consistently bad framerate, unplayable stuttering, lag during scoping in and focusing (holding shift), lagging when moving into new areas. After I stay in an area for five minutes, I will only get lag when scoping in and focusing. If I move anywhere outside of the area, I immediately start stuttering and lagging again.

Fullscreen mode as suggested for performance.

Additional note:
I have tried turning settings to max, turning settings to low. I've tried CFG config tweaks, properties edits such as -USEALLAVAILABLECORES and -NOTEXTURESTREAMING, reinstalling, wiping appdata files and more. None of this fixes the unplayable stuttering that I get during the game. No game has been unplayable for me like this and has always had a workaround to get smooth gameplay, seriously considering refunding.

Performance has been improved in this patch, but it still NEEDS work, because sometimes in intense firefights my fps drops.

Other problems that still needs addressing:

- Micro stuttering (sometimes stuttering every 2 seconds)
- No footsteps (when team/enemy runs)
- Weapon sound bug (when firing, cant hear shots)
- Smoke flickering

Also add more options for anti-aliasing. A lot of people don't want to use FXAA because its just blurry and we don't want to be forced to use SSAA (Super Sampling) as its a resource hog.

There was definitely an improvement since the last patch, It was impossible to play before, now I can even get 60 FPS sometimes, Just need a little bit more optimization and it will run fine!

hi,

1.Windows 10
2.R5 1600x 4ghz
3.Rx Vega 64 Nitro+
4.32 gb 2666mhz c16
5.250go SSD 850 evo, 1to HDD 7200rpm (ST1000DM010-2EP102)
Game is installed on the mechanical HDD
6.FPS improved a little (60-90fps) but still low and dropping mid 50's in open area or busy Push.
High quality shadow tanks my fps a lot so i'm forced to play on Medium.
Patch introduced much more stuttering for me.
Also CPU usage is pretty low ingame : 20-30%.
