This game looks nice but why so many not recommended?
It's mostly positive but on the front page of most helpful no one likes this game. A bit concerning since I have been curious to play this game.

It's short. And theres no real content to keep players into it like other games. You can 100% the game in 15 hours or so. Thats probably the reason for most anyway.

Read why? Not to 've rude but if you're curious about why people don't recommend it simply read their review.

I've heard this game refereed to as a Relaxation Sandbox and very much agree. There's tons to do, but very little of it is required leading to the common criticism of lack of depth. While i love the freedom this design approach offers, a lot of people aren't a fan.

A lot of people seem to have bought into the press comparisons to other games and then got very disappointed by what it actually is - we got compared to really big titles, like the 3 of us were going to combine some of the biggest games in the world, but people don't seem to have read the articles or viewed the game to form their own opinion.

Yonder is a gentle and relaxing sandbox world. If you're a sandbox play style and you love cute or happy things, you'll probably adore Yonder.

There's no adrenaline to be had here. It doesn't have complex quests or indepth relationships. It is not a deep rpg. And it's not a deep farming game. It's Yonder - and unfortunately that's MASSIVELY polarising for people looking for a new minecraft or zelda or stardew valley replacement. But our 80+% user rating, and the messages and community you can find here should tell you it's very worthwhile to people that want that sort of experience.

Probably the best thing you can do is watch some streams or lets plays (there's plenty! Try Stampy Cat's) or simply grab it, give it a spin for an hour and refund if you don't like it - no worries :)

Yonder got a sort of no man's sky treatment and compared to things like stardew/minecraft, also people imagine 20$ is like a lifetime investment or something. I get where some come from however the game is far from bad or unplayable, 15 hours for 20$ isn't bad by a long shot. I paid 30$ for doom and finished it in 10...

I'm still shocked we've got players now with 80+ hours :O
I know one of these at least had a pre-release copy, but c'mon! You gotta sleep at some point!

I'm actualy watching a youtuber play it and the gameplay looks great. Character creation could use some work just by looking at it so far though.

However I might go ahead and get the game once I sell my tv stand (or by next month) and then I'll give it a shot. I am however looking for a nice and relaxing game and I hope that when I do get around to it I'll play it

P.S. youtuber's name is IGP

I'm above 10 hours and just got it last night, it WOULD be higher but I had to work today ;)

Honestly I've been following this game for quite some time now and I loved it from the moment I first saw it, I did NOT do too much reading about the game though so when I finally found out it was a "zero risk game" so to speak I bought it without the slightest hesitation.

I LOVE sandbox games, but whenever possible I play them in peaceful mode, IF I want to hunt, kill, etc there are plenty of genres build for just that, but when it comes to my sandbox games just let me unwind, and explore at my own pace!

I've noticed a LOT of the "negative" reviews come from people who lean heavy on puzzle / combat style games and honestly to me that's just a bit more bias then I want in my review.

IF you want a beautiful relaxing game with one hell of an open world and little surprises around every cliff, tree and corner then Yonder IS in fact the game for you.

if you want to kill cute animals, or marry an NPC or solve complex puzzles that may lead to you pulling out your hair.... not so much.lol.

Kudos on the awesome game, I have downtime this weekend and plan on using most of it in Yonder!

FWIW: life long gamer, first console was an Atari 2600 (as a hint to my age lol)

I started watching DangerouslyFunny's video of the game last night and within 30 mins I had to but it (I did not get notified from Steam the game went live on the 18th even though I was following AND had it in my wishlist :( ) anyway the video link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3l171tnIUI

He's also the reason I started playing Stardew Valley last year lol
rincewind Jul 20, 2017 @ 5:08pm
Reading the reviews, seems that people are pretty confused about what this game is about.

"This is not Stardew Valley 3D"
"This is not Zelda"
"This is not Zelda Valley 3D"
"Why there's not combat?"
"Why this is not a farming game?"

Besides that, some people think that doesn't have content, or that the content doesn't justify the price.

And that's it.
Bellavate Jul 20, 2017 @ 5:13pm
It's not an incredibly deep game, however I'm 16 hours in and still finding surprises that I didn't expect from this game. (The water freezes in winter? You can do different things depending on the season? WOW!)
Mysticalmaid Jul 21, 2017 @ 12:25am
I only bought it yesterday based on watching a favourite YouTuber play, so I knew what I was getting in to regarding combat. This is such a chillaxing game to play after work! I'm 5 hours in so far last night, and just booted up again this morning on my day off to explore some more. I will write a review at some point but I want to play more so I can understand it better, I do recommend Yonder, but I also recommend people watch playthrough videos to see if it appeals to them, sometimes you want to beat things up in a game, and sometimes you just need to relax, collect things (I already got the hoarder achievement hehe) and see beautiful things, Yonder does the second for me.

you seem to be ignoring many valid criticisms of the game with this comment.
