So I read that NISA pc ports are sloppy
So I wanted to see myself by checking some reviews of their other games that were ported.
And it didn't take me long to notice this review:

To me there is nothing worse than a bad port of a good game... Maybe it will be the first Ys game available on steam/gog that I will not buy :(

Supposedly they are going to really try with this one after the delay. I'll wait to judge until the final version is released. I was very pessimistic before (and for good reason), but now I'm actually fairly optimistic it will run well (hopefully even on a toaster).

What make you optimistic?
It would seem that the beta had performance issues...

But if I remember correctly, Durante (He is awesome) is helping NISA to port YsVIII or something like that?
But I wonder how much impact does he have on this port.

Well they've set expectations very high now. If they blow it this time it's not going to be good for them.

And yes, the beta had major issues and they only started beta testing a week before the original release date.

I think their new schedule is much more reasonable though.
Its not just PC, NISA has had a history of messing up localized games in general.

Here's off the top of my head:

Mana Khemia (PS2) - The bonus dungeon is bugged where random battles can lock up the game.

Mana Khemia (PSP) - They fixed the random crashing in the bonus dungeon, but the PSP exclusive new equipment that are in the final dungeon are bugged and won't drop.

Atelier Iris~Eternal Mana (PS2) - The game can lock up during the final boss defeat animation.

Ar tonelico 2 (PS2) - The NA version is bugged where you have to win in 3 turns VS a re-occuring boss called Raki. This is due to the localizers accidently deleting part of the boss' code so on its 6th attack, it will attempt to call up an attack that no longer exists and hard lock the game. This was fixed in the EU version.

The Witch and the Hundred Nights (PS3) - Random crashes

Rhapsody (DS) - The advertised bonus content that exists in the JP ver was cut out of the NA version.

In their defense though, they have some really good games like Disgaea 4 (and its god-like dub), Zettai Hero Project, and their localization of the first Neptunia game was better than the Japanese version.

Yeah let's just hope that they will do a good port! Even though I'm less optimistic than you :/

God, no. Let YS8 be the final sacrifice for everyone to see how ♥♥♥♥ up NISA is. Don't let them touch any other game for god sake.

I don't care nearly as much about Kiseki (largely thanks to Sen), so honestly I hope Ys 8 ends up being a great port.

Only game I'm really looking forward to playing much at all.

Hopefully NISA has learned something from all of this.

I've played several of their recent games and never had issues. Don't listen to idiots who say otherwise as they haven't played a single of their recent PC ports. They're just here to troll.

Just because you did not experience the problem doesn't mean others too. Stop being a NISA shill.
