They need to knock $20 off the price
By the time this comes out it will be spring and the game will have been out for half a year (on ps)Why should we even pay full price at that point? NISA screwed up ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a lot of people off A day before it was going to release. Ys VIII is no longer worth $60 for that fact alone.

This.
Not everyone spends a ton of money to upgrade their PC. I'm sure there are plenty of people who wait for every third or even fourth generation of PC hardware to come out before upgrading at all. While individual games are definitely less expensive than your average PC upgrade, those games add up fast. Before you know it, you've spent about as much on games in a year as you did on that PC upgrade, especially if you don't wait for sales before buying games.

I'd also like to address your "y'all want things for free" comment:

No one said nor implied this. The fact is that, if a company puts out a product that is inferior in quality to other similar products on the same market, it should cost less to buy.

Then there's the fact that this is a digital-only release. You're not going to find any Ys VIII discs/cases/manuals on shelves regardless of where you are. Digital releases should automatically cost less than physical releases because the buyer exchanges money for essentially nothing. What they receive is not only entirely intangible, but something they don't even own. Steam, PSN, and the Xbox Store can revoke access to the games (actually licenses) you "buy" or remove that game from the service entirely whenever they feel like it. There have already been instances where the latter has happened, such as with Fable III.

The reason so many people wait for sales for digital games or demand price cuts is because they know that digital licenses have no inherent value. They don't take any effort to manufacture or produce, they're not something that can be held in your hand, and you can't even resell them if you're in a financial bind. Digital copies, in effect, are worthless. It makes sense that people don't want to pay much for them. However, I'm not saying digital copies should be free.

Why should we pay 60$ for a game we didn't get right away? I agree they had better knock the price off for making us wait
Ikagura Dec 29, 2017 @ 1:32am
yeah but they'll never do that

Not so much that we "didnt get right away" It more like. It will have been out here for 6 months already. Most people are already gave up and got the PS4 version of the game. In 6 months you will be able to find it at Game stop for the cheap or online used. If it would have been realesed on sept 11 it would have possibly already had a price drop(winter sale) and definatly one at the spring sale. At this point I probably wont play it until it gets a 75% off sale

I bought Ys games at full price before just to show support for the devs; but this is definitely one where I'll wait for a deep sale before I buy it (or maybe not even buy it) - just so Nihon Falcom becomes more wary on who they license their games to. NISA really crapped the bed on this one; it's nice that they're "trying to fix it" (only because fans sent mass complaint emails to Nihon Falcom about the shoddy localization) - but the damage has been done.

Well I bought the Ys game on sale but several times (on GoG and Humble) so I already have shown my support for the serie there

Yes But did you buy Oath in Felghana Limited edition Box set with the 10 or so music cds, art book etc the day OiF was release directly from Falcom? That was a pretty penny let me tell you, but the HUGE box sealed the deal LOL.

Games shouldn't be more than $40 for digital copies regardless. I paid $40 for the physical copy of the Vita version myself.

The generation that "deserves everything for free".
The generation that gave "Mario Run" negative critique, cause it costs money after the demo.

The question alone is nonsensical: "Why should we even pay full price at that point?"
Yeah... why not?
Cause you had to wait as a PC gamer?
Cause the "master race" couldn't play this game as soon as PS4 players?
"Oooh, someone screwed up! Now I deserve a pricedrop!"
