Is PUBg support 7.1 surround sound?
Saw few posts about it... what it not working properly

How are things going at the moment? Is it working correctly after all these patches? Is there sense to buy 7.1 headset?

I have a 7.1 headset and I can tell directions easily. There is a distinct direction for me so I would assume it works. That or im a ninja and need to go to the mall and buy some stuff.

Surround headset will be great when we humans grow more ears on our forehead and the back of our head.

No, PUBG is not currently using 7.1. You can read it in the FAQ: http://forums.playbattlegrounds.com/topic/25335-faq/

I mean im using Dolby Digital 7.1 so its not "true" 7.1 but it does work in 7.1 for me at least.

i've got cheap sennheiser hd 202 headphones and use razer 7.1 surround program that costs 17 dollars or 14 euro and can tell exactly where every shot is coming from and what distance it's being shot from , if it's up the hill , behind the hill , in a building , where in the building...
used the program for 6 months now , with multiple games and works great...
specially for games like this ...
you can buy a expensive 7.1 headset or if you want something cheaper that does the same thing , check out the program ...
i know a 7.1 headset is probably better , but this program does the job very well ,
good enough for me

I use 2 different headsets depending on whether I'm home or on the road.

At home, I have an expensive Logitech 7.1 surround sound headset. On the road, I'm using ear buds that came with my cell phone. Besides clearer treble and base, they both sound exactly the same in locating shot direction. The Logitech doesn't sound any better.

So no, there is no support for it yet.

tried this soft, and it did not made any significant chages for sound positioning with stereo headset

Maybe some people already have,

Is there plans for future to add 7.1 surround support in PUBg?

I would say yes, but this is just my guess because true 7.1 in any FPS game is crucial when it comes to being the best. Especially if they want to become some sort of eSport. One can only hope.

Something to consider also. You only have 2 ears (hence, 2 channels) to which to interpret spatial audio, which is a bunch of software hacks anyway. Your brain is responsible for your ability to sense sound spatially, but technically you're only receiving it on two microphones. You're much better off just sticking with 2 channel stereo, and overall, we're better off with a game that is a well-engineered 2 channel audio game than having Bluehole chase tweaking 7.1 forever and never having it be 100%.

In general, you're better off staying with a quality 2.1 headset than screwing around with 7.1. Whatever marketing language 7.1 headsets use, they're a waste of money.

I actually don't have info on this but I would say yes (take it as a grain of salt). Like many other things, it's just something not urgent and most likely at the bottom of the priority list.

Thats what 7.1 does, you have Front, Front Left, Left, Back Left, Front Right, Right, Back Right. Using digital 7.1 software acts like the brain and puts it out through the speakers in such a way that it is distinguishable to the ladder direction output. You have 2 ears (or channels as you put it) however you can easily tell direction of sound in the real world whether it is behind you, infront of you or to the side. True 7.1 headsets are no cheaper than 290$ (from when I last checked) in which they literally have 4 tiny speakers on each ear to mimic the sounds according to direction. Digital 7.1 does this in such a way that the speaker gives sound to where it seems like it is surround (you can test this by using digital 7.1 or 5.1 software testing). The software I use can also customize the volume of each "channel" so I can have my left and right rear sounds to be much louder than the front making it seem like its true 7.1 when in reality it is not. All i know is in my experience with PUBG i have "surround sound" and I can easily tell where shots/planes/vehicles are located without turning to focus on it.

Any notion you have about sound above, below, front or back, is all synthesized within your brain. That's your brain doing it. Surround sound in a headset is useless. Surround sound in a physical room (such as a theater) is about where you are physically positioned in relation to the sound source. So in a large room, if you're positioned left-rear from the screen, then your experience of the sound will be different than someone who is seated right-front.

Ask anybody who does sound engineering -- especially foley work -- about this and they will tell you that 7.1 in a headset is just a gimmick. I have field recorders that I've taken into situations like Grand Central Station, with mics set up to mimic how human ears work positionally. That is just two channel audio output to two channel headset, but you can clearly tell what direction sound is coming from. Because the spatial expansion of that sound happens in the mind.
