How to build X number of ships, not until the cap size is reached?
The question is in the title: How to build X number of ships (like 30 bombers), not until the cap size is reached?

As far as i see the only way is to uncheck the ship in the docks build panel

My face is feeling a little red right now.

About a half year ago, maybe a little bit longer, we decided to adopt the simpler queues that you see at the moment. Being able to do ratios of ships at different locations in the galaxy somehow either didn't occur to us, or we thought of some mitigating way to handle it that I'm simply not recalling.

I will need to think about this some, but you're right that the current behavior is suboptimal if you're planning on seriously splitting fleets. This is kind of confirming a line of thinking that I've been pondering relating simplification to control groups in general, and moving in a slightly more Stellaris-like direction with fleets.

Funny, I tried to play today and asked this myself. It maybe is a personal feeling, but I like to control such things.

Hi Chris, i hope you feel better after this time, has this feature been accepter to implement in the future. I really dont feel confortable with not been able to select how many units i want to build

This is actually one of those features that I am least confident about what to do. It's definitely a high priority for me, but what I need to do is lay out my potential solutions for it and the pros and cons of each one, and then see what folks think. Eric who has been so instrumental on GUI design also would be a good idea to get in there consulting on that. I'll make this a priority to start discussing in the next week, so hopefully we can see some results within a few weeks.

This and control groups are actually kind of related in my mind, so I have to talk about the two of them kind of together.
