Amnesia... Overall.
Am I the only one that found this game... well, to put it bluntly... boring? I read so many reviews and everyone said it was the scariest game you'll ever play, and after playing for the first 30 minutes or so, I stopped for a moment and realized I wasn't fascinated and that I was practically forcing myself through the game. I don't think it's scary. It's not a bad game, it's just not as scary as so many people have claimed it to be. I just felt so uninterested in the game. Not only that, but it's very sensitive to what type of graphics card you use. So I found that a little unfair that it's kind of picky on what type of card you have. But despite that, it just doesn't seem scary whatsoever to me. And I'm a big fan of all things gory, disturbing, and bizarre. This wasn't it for me.

Oh. And if anyone is interested in trading this game, let me know. :)

I've seen a lot of videos where people were forcing them selves to keep playing the game. And it may just be the case that you are indeed scared of the game you chicken. I'm not sure what kind of set up you've got going on. But if you have a GTX 460 at the least I'de try to adjust the graphics as best as possible. Another tip is to set the brightness to 0.65 or 0.85. Although it can differ... Just try to set the brightness lower than what they recommend in the brightness calibration screen. Another very very very important aspect of the game is your choice of audio. I suppose you could get away with using speakers or some type of great surround sound system. But if you're going to go for the surround sound route, I'de recommend buying a Corsair headset or the Psyco Carbon headset. All of the hype that has pushed this game to the top of the scary list was no joke. So it concerns me a little especially since you claim to like the dark twisted type of games. So take my comment into consideration. This is not hate mail or anything of the sort. Just pep talk.

Its amazing with headphones, they have to be gaming ones.

Seconded with the headphones; they make the experience all the better.

Also, I'd suggest not giving up on it so soon; it takes about an hour if you're taking your time to start picking up; you're just going through the framing stages. It dials up the freaky meter -

- right after you get past the first real puzzle with the acid compound and the wall of flesh.

I've played through all the Resident Evils, Silent Hills, Clock Tower, Penumbra, etc. All freaked me out at varying times, but never had me shaking. I can go about 45 minutes at a stretch with Amnesia before I need a break; there's something about being so defenseless that terrifies me.

Give'er another chance and I'm sure you'll get hooked.

I've played the Penumbra series and loved every minute of it. Especially Black Plague. I was immediately hooked and felt the need to start searching for more games like it or just finding a list of scary games to play.

I gave it a chance and finished Amnesia. I think I enjoyed the morgue part of the game the most. I share a love for bloody scenes in a game. So the anticipation in that part was at a high. :P The multiple endings were really interesting. But I still wasn't really scared of the game. Sorry to sound like a major let down when it comes to saying that. I can't help it.

Still. I enjoy reading your opinions. Thank you for sharing them.

If you beat the game in 3H 30M then I'de imagine you must have rushed through the whole thing. Well if you didn't like it, you didn't like it. You could always go check out Slender. That game is scary and simple. You'll understand if you find the download.

If this game bores you, you really deserve a "Balls o' Steel" achievment.

well some people just do not get scared by atmosphere alone, not big deal, i am as a big fan of penumbra and amnesia games noticed that it did scares vast majority of the players, but not everyone and its ok.

there can be many reasons why the game had no scary effect on you, maybe its the blurry graphics that gave you headache, maybe the pacing of the game was too slow for you, maybe you played the game outside with your laptop on sunny day while listening to some k-pop while playing ?

I actually played the game in the dark. I did tweak the gamma a little to give it a slightly darker effect. When it comes to scary/horror games, I'm all for the volume being high and the lights being out in the room. It seems so much more fascinating.

But, yeah.. Definitely no K-Pop music. Not my style. Lol.

If you are not scared of the original campaign. Look into custom stories for it. I do agree that the campaign is not that scary but it has its moments. If you are looking for a real scare I do suggest that you get some custom stories for it. I recommend "Baldo's Discovery." It's a great custom story with a semi-good plot but probably the scariest custom story that I have played. If you are looking for a good plot with a couple of good scares in it get the custom story called "White Night." It's a total conversion of Amnesia and it tells it's own story. I hope this helps you find this game more entertaining than what you thought of it at first. If you don't believe me just check my profile. I have logged in 79 hours into this game and I still can't get enough. Also, look out for the new Amnesia game, it's called "Amneisa: The Machine For Pigs." It's going to be great. FrictionalGames have tweaked many of the components in it to make it better than the first. Like an updated AI system, that when the monster sees you you're F'd. Instead of in the first you can get away with it seeing you for a second or two but in the new one if it sees you it sees you and you're probably dead.

Again, hope you don't totally turn away from this game it is truly one of a kind and is by far one of the best games that I have ever played and FrictionalGames gets it right with all of the horror genre games.

Honestly, I've tried to get into this a couple times, but I just can't seem to do it. Maybe I'm not far enough into it for it to get scary or exciting, so I haven't given up all hope yet. However, combined with issues with the mouse when alt-tabbing out of it temporarily, I really don't want to bother.

I'm sure I'll still give it more time before I give up completely on it.

I actually think Amneisa: Justine was pretty good. I was kind of paranoid in the beginning when all the weird sounds came about in each cell/room. And going through the tunnel in the dark was a little scary.

I'm looking forward to The March For Pigs part to come out. I think FrictionalGames is progressing in each section for Amnesia. I know one thing is certain for FG; their work on the Penumbra series was brilliant. I would most certainly recommend that series anytime.
