Imac 27" Black screen error
Hi Ive read many errors of people mentioning the black screen that they get upon start up. I have a black screen, I can just hear the music in the background. I get no white dot or crosshair but the friction games logo comes up upon boot. I am using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB graphics card. Can anyone help?

Also I can't quit the window whilst the game is in this state, I have to force quit instead

So you have a blackscreen AND see the Fricitonal Games Logo?

I see the logo then the screen goes black straight afterwards, I can hear the intro music and nothing happens after that

ah, I see. Are your drivers up to date? can you post the hpl.log?

Sorry what is a hpl.log?

It's the log-file the HPL2-Engine saves while running. It should be in your User-Directory and not in the Steam-Directory. You can open it with a regular texteditor and copy paste the content into the steamforums. We can analyse it and maybe find the problem.

I am not a Mac-User so I am not familiar with the directories on Mac. But this should be the path where you could find it (according to the internet): "Users/username/Library/Application\ Support/Frictional\ Games/Amnesia/Main"

I go into username and there is no library folder, so I searched for the application folder throughout the entire HD, which I found and there isn't a support folder in there. I search the HD for that and that doesn't exist :/

Search for Amnesia. That is what you are interested in. As I said: I am not familiar with Macs, so I can't halp you with that, only with Amnesia itself.

This folder is hidden by default, just open the Finder, go to the Menu Bar and select "Go to Folder" in the "Go" menu.
Enter the following path: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Frictional\ Games/HPL2

The best way to post the content of the Text File is to use services like Pastie[]. You can copy & Paste the content there and post the Link here in the steam forum, so it's easier to read.
