Esoteric Units

There are a few units and creatures that I'm having trouble unlocking and adding to my armies. These include Greater angels of various types, Centhorians, Djinni, Drakes, and Maladonisai. Have I been getting unlucky with my Lore discoveries, or do these beings come from Mastery combinations I've missed? Do they only come from certain wizard/warlord traits? Please advise.

Verroth cleared this one up already, but I'd just like to remark that I'm aware that the 'tech tree' isn't particularly easy to navigate right now. Even though, it is of little use right now, I do have plans to improve the Research and Mastery UI to make it more apparent how to reach various units, upgrades and spells.

Until then, note that you can combine the 'show unavailable' checkbox and the filter/search functionality to find options related to a specific mastery and/or keywords.
