Problem with step of the alien difficulty.
After starting a game or moving to the next level alien difficulty damage and health dropped for basic value for the 1 player on the current difficulty.
Difficulty: Brutal
Player(s):1
Drone health: 88

After many tests, i take next data for every added bot with swapping difficulty in the lobby to Normal and back to the Brutal.
Players number: 1| 2 | 3| 4| 5| 6| 7| 8
Drone health: 88 | 88| 96| 104| 112| 120|128|136

After restart mission or moving to the next mission drone health changed to the 88, before difficulty will be swapped or changed to the other difficulty.

So what you are saying that if I put brutal, add 8 bots, then drone health and speed will be increased (due to
"rd_increase_difficulty_by_number_of_marines" = "1") like it should. But after I restart the mission, drone health and speed will be back to values as if only 1 player is present?

I do not testing speed, only testing health. Yes. Actually, there two difficulty modifier, first by hardness second by marine numbers.You can test by yourself, start Operation clean sweep, swap difficulty to Brutal, take 8 bots. Leave them and kill the first drone with melee attack without bonus dmg. Then restart the game without swapping difficulty, with bots, leave them and you kill the same drone much easy.

To be honest, I think the problem isn't just the enemy's health. Also, observe some changes after restart map. For example "First person". I'm guessing there may be a list of default variables that will be overridden when you restart the game or initialize the next mission.

Drone health above 104 breaks weapon balance. Difficulties like tier1 normal are extremally unpopular. And moving this to base game is ambiguous decision.

Indeed. This fix is quite balance changing. 8-player games on Brutal will become much harder. 4-player games are slightly affected too. As this issue was present since Alien Swarm there is no intent to make it final. We can always revert back to how it was, removing both asw_adjust_difficulty_by_number_of_marines and rd_increase_difficulty_by_number_of_marines as they were basically not doing anything. Or just rd_increase_difficulty_by_number_of_marines.

We can test this change for a few weeks, gather community feedback and decide if it's fun or not.

As a side note: As far as I remember the introduction of Brutal difficulty have broke the balance of some weapons. Since weapons were balanced around Insane difficulty, Railgun and Sniper Rifle were one-shot weapons for most of the characters on Insane.

I appreciate that, thank you very much. I hope that the community will like the new changes, and it will make the game more team-oriented than solo.
