Everyone has been saying this game is bad, but I found it enjoyable to play even with its little flaws. I did play the first part years ago in BFG and decided to get the second one here on steam.

The story continues two years after the first one and it takes place in a town where young girls been disappearing. The graphics are amazing in this one, they really did a great job in each location. I also liked the journal and its objectives tracking, voice overs were good as well.

Mini-games and hidden objects scenes were decent, you'll also be promoted by some choices during the gameplay, and they said choices matter, there is a message in the game says (Be careful when answering questions, you may influence the outcome of the game's plot) I don't know if the game has multiple endings or not.

I recommend it even if you hated the first one, try this one and you'll like it.

After playing the English version of this game, here are some of my thoughts. To start with, even though the voice acting was superior in this game over its predecessor, I preferred the first game of the series in all other aspects. And now for the bullet points.

Pros:

- Nice graphics, if somewhat blurry in places, but they worked.

- The map was a nice addition over the first game, and it let you fast-travel to places where you had tasks to perform.

- Decent enough plot line progression, but I wouldn't really call it a sequel as it does in the description. More like a "chapter two". It did tie up the cliffhanger ending from The Manor of Memories, but only as a passing mention at the end of the game.

- The voice acting (such as it was) was better than the first game...at least this time the characters didn't sound like they were badly reading from a script.

- There were a couple decent puzzles I hadn't seen in a HOG before.

Cons:

- As mentioned by a previous reviewer, this game was quite short...I completed it in just three hours on the difficult level.

- I never really felt connected to any of the characters in the game. Their backgrounds and/or motivations just weren't developed to any great degree, at least not enough to make me feel any real empathy to their plight(s). As in the first chapter (Manor of Memories) there is an unvoiced "apparition" that pops up occasionally during the game to impede progress, and in both games I felt this character could have been better fleshed out so you'd understand its reasons for hindering your progress.

- You start out by "choosing" a dialog path which determines whether you have the sheriff help you with the case (which I did). If you do, the only help you ever get is immediately being handed an item you'll need to use shortly on in the game. That's it! No further help, nor for that matter any further contact with the sheriff. I wonder what would have happened if I'd chosen to decline his help...game over? I could start over with a new profile to find out, but I'm really not that curious!

- The "choice" mentioned above was the only instance where this game play dynamic was even offered. I thought, "great, dialog choices will affect the story progression!", but sadly this was not the case.

- There were a couple really lame (as in "easy") puzzles, and one or two that were just plain tedious.

- I've played many, many HOGs over the years, but this one was one of the worst I've ever come across for mislabeling items found in the hidden object scenes. Here are some examples:

* A "map" turned out to be a queen of spades playing card
* A "candle" was actually a spark plug
* A wooden clothes pin was identified as a "peg"
* A "tyre lever" turned out to be a crowbar
* A fuel or pressure gauge was called a "measuring tool" (which I guess it literally is, but....)

There were many others, and these poor "translations" not only made it very difficult to find the correct items, but it reeks of laziness on the part of the developers for not getting help from a native English speaker.

So all this being said, this game was just "okay" as far as the genre is concerned. Not the best (by far), but certainly not the worst, either. I can't really give it more than a "meh" rating, so it's too bad there isn't a "sideways thumb recommendation" option! I wouldn't ever pay full price for it, but if you pick it up on sale as part of a bundle with the first "chapter" of the game it might be worth it, if only for getting closure to the ending from Manor of Memories.

graphics in the game are good. it is pleasing to look at but that is the best i can say. there is no logic to game flow. the translation is poor. ie; sparkplug is not a candle, curtain tassel is not a roserie. puzzles directions are difficulr to understand. have played boyh of the mountain trap games and have found the same problems in both editions.

I loved the first of this series, but was disappointed by this one. It's short and ended rather abruptly. The puzzles are alright, but there was hardly any story, and rather a disappointment compared to Mountain Trap 1

Its a little too short and boring. Mountain Trap 1 was much better and more exciting.
You can also just play it once, if you try again after you have completed it then it just freezes.
Bad game overall ... *Feels cheated*
I cannot even get the trading cards now.

Was better than the first game. The graphics were decent. The story was ok but felt a little rushed. A fast travel map was available. The hint button was actually helpful in this one. The mingames were good. The HO screens were not very good. Some of the item translations were off. For example, a candle is not a spark plug. The game was short and is not worth full price. Would recommend if on sale.

- puzzles are mostly frustrating. especially sliding puzzles so annoying therefore i directly skipped them.

A massive improvement on the first Mountain Trap, but it's still not there as a top quality HOG. Worth picking up in a sale, or as part of one of the cheap bundles bought elsewhere, but certainly not a £5 game

what is worse than a bad part one of a game series? well, you guessed it a second part that is even worse!

the first part finished with a cliff hanger it continuous in this part with no catch nor necessary story telling.

just like the first part. i have almost fell to sleep as it is mega boring.

Awesome sequel that is MUCH better than the original. So much so just forget the original and head straight here. The puzzles are terrific (if you aren't tempted to hit that oh so easy 'hint' button), much more interesting and fair than the last game. The hidden objects are challenging for the most part. The changing locations to use the items you find is much better and is more logical (again just forget the original game on this subject). The scenes are very beautiful and the story is servicable. The ending is very neatly tied with a bow (and perhaps rushed) but I'll forgive it because the overall was such a massive improvement on the last game. I keep going back to that because I was only left with frustration after that experience. Whilst this one is 'shorter' from an overall length it is much more satisfying because the overall pieces of the game fit much better as a cohesive whole. I would be curious to see another entry from this company, but time for a new story and new characters to keep it fresh.
