I want to believe but their are some odd things about this.

* The 911 call on the reveal trailer sounds like a kid. What are the ages of the developers? Are they just a couple guys in their basement?

* The strategic planning image on the Features page leads to a Youtube video called "Pogo | Stork (Unreleased Dumbo Remix)".

* On that same page under Multiplayer they say 8 people and on another part of the website they say 10 people. Which is it?

* Another odd thing is this screenshot of "The Anal Staircase". This seems odd for a game trying to make money by appealing to as wide of an audience as possible. To me it shows a young immature developer making a poor choice.

* all press releases like this usually give information about the company making the game. This has zero information

* VOID Interactive Pty Ltd. Registered Date 01-11-2016. Australian Private Company. Not currently registered for GST. Wouldn't a real company be registered? You don't need to be registered if you have zero income.

I couldn't find out anything about previous games they made. All I could find is a trademark application for the name of the game:

http://www.trademarkia.com/au/ready-or-not-1817875.htm

The last biggest red flag is this:

* If you look up the address given for the trademark application it is a small home. This company must be indie developers. Perhaps mod makers making the leap to developers.

I really want to believe this is real however there are some red flags. It takes a lot of people and a lot of money to make a complex game like Swat. Look at all the crappy games by Christian Allen of Serella (big promises and then the final product is poo).
All true, they did comment on that link leading to that youtube music video not being removed before the site going live, they commented and said they are rolling with it. Anyway, they seem talented, and the game seems to be dealing with dark mature themes like SWAT 4 did. The game is NOT trying to appeal to everyone, and it shouldn't. And the voice answering 911 call is probably supposed to sound like a female since most 911 operators are female. So if they used a kid or a grown woman to convey that sound, what does it matter? But we'll just have to wait and see. Stay optimistic!
There is optimistic and then there is being a dreamer ;)

The game is NOT trying to appeal to everyone, and it shouldn't

That is the double edged sword. The Swat games have always been a niche market. Modern 3D games with high resolution graphics cost a fortune to make. Swat 4 barely made it's money back (if it did - they had to even add in-game real world advertising with the 1.1 patch of the game).

That screenshot with "The Anal Staircase" immediately eliminates family purchases. There is a fairly large market of Christian Conservative families that don't like cursing in games or content like this but love the military and police. Eliminating a chunk of your audience with an already small group of people is shooting yourself in the foot in terms of getting your money back.

As for the discussion about can a small indie house of a couple people make a game like this:

Many people underestimate the amount of work involved. So many animations and 3D models to make. AI coding is an art form and extremely critical for coop games. Textures, sounds, etc.

Swat 3's budget was $2.2 million in 1998 with a team of 20 people and took 18 months to make.

I admit some of the screenshots and video clips on the website look amazing. However unless they have the funding behind them it isn't going to go far. It may be just like the Serella games...looks visually good but the actual gameplay is total poo (mainly because of stupid AI).

I wish them the best and I will surely be keeping an eye out for them. I just think people should harness their expectations though. I wonder if there will be a Kickstarter soon ;)
naaaaah, I am not putting much hope in this.
Yo Slip Jim, you need to chill. Yes they are Indie devs. There's like 5 dudes working on the game. Chill out
We have a discord with the devs on it. We already talked to the devs. They are legit.
They even have small 15 sec clips of in game footage on discord
Thanks for the link! I want to believe. I want to believe. Their description of features sounds like something the fans wrote of what they loved about Swat 3.

Update: here is a quote that scares me though

Our version of cooperative play aims to be pretty similar to how SWAT4 did it. I sunk so many hours into that game as a kid.

I disliked Swat 4's coop compared to Swat 3. They did so many things wrong that they got right the first time in Swat 3. Unfortunately part of Irrational Game's task was to make the game appeal to a much wider audience and thus watered down the tactical elements.

I know a lot of people loved Swat 4 for the deathmatch/team deathmatch but I don't play those modes generally. I am sure they did a great job with it and deserve all the love they got. However coop gameplay was lacking in my opinion.

Update2: Team of only 3 people! ugh! Depressed now.

Update 3: Even more depressed with this quote:

We just find multiplayer an attractive opportunity because we've had fond memories playing SWAT 4 TDM

Update 4: Yup, at least one of them is a former mod maker (as I guessed). The mod was never completed and was shut down. On the plus side he is an Arma fan. Taken from the developers post history on Reddit:

A bunch of us are working on an ArmA 3 HALO mod.

Swat 4 coop was nice! Swat 3 had more advanced reporting but that's about it. In Coop you talk to your teammates with a mic. The game definetly looks a lot like SWAT 4.
Just thought you guys should know, they found a real publisher: https://twitter.com/VOIDInteractive/status/1374061071699308544

We're still not abandoned boyos!
Yes, Team17 being involved is really good news. I think not only for the money they will invest in the development but also the guidance. I get the impression some of the dev team's choices were not the best so hopefully they will smarten up now.

After the Team17's announcement I am suddenly very optimistic about this being released.

according to the rumours it will maybe come out this year in early access, but you can buy a supporter pack at the Void interactive website. It’s not cheap though.
