LONG load times
So, one of Obsidian's promises was to fix the load times. I see no fix. In fact, they're arguably longer for me. I have an extremely high-end rig, so this certainly shouldn't be on my end. No game loads like this. Is there something I'm missing in the options, or some other explanation? Are others having the same experience? Thanks!

I generally see load screen for 10-15 seconds

Same for me and my rig can hold up with many next gens just fine. It's difficult wanting to play it because I feel like I lose all immersion every time I have to go into a town / in and out of buildings

+1 @Porkatron. My feelings, as well.

The loadscreens make this game unplayable right now.

I do not think Obsidian came out and said "I promise", but I too remember reading -might have been Josh Sawyer- that load times would be shorter since they were now used to the engine. There wasn't a specific time given such as half the time of pillars or 3 second load screens. But it was stated that loading would be shorter. I have hardly played at all since I am waiting on patches but it is disheartening to hear that the loading times are the same as pillars 1.

my load times are considerably better compared to the 1st game

Individual load screens haven't been too bad for me as someone running the game off an SSD, but having to go through 3-4 load screens 5-10s long any time I just want to go to another district gets pretty annoying after a while.

Just wondering why the loading times are so high. The backgrounds are prerendered 2d images
the only thing are the 3d character models and maybe lightning. GTA5 has way more things to load and it loads faster on my pc than any map in this game.
I hope someone can explain it
It's the engine. Every more complicated Unity game I have works like crap. It's ok engine for simple mobile games, but not for AAA title.

So, what are they able to do to better optimize the game? They said the load times would be significantly shorter.

I always just alt-tab and net surf while waiting.

@Ewell, I hear ya, but sometimes the game freezes and is difficult to close at those times.

Playing it on a SSD makes it ok, thankfully.. about 5 seconds to load maps.. but when I tried it on my HDD at first it was 20 or more seconds.. would've irritated me to the point of quitting eventually... this game really needs to be played on SSD.

This is literally my only issue with the game after finishing it, had no crashes, no fps dips but the loading is zzzzz
