and if you actually decide to try this game...
the rest of the mods, the rest of the maps players have made, the player made chronicles...
you may end up finding yourself looking up how to make your own mods.
you may end up coding a whole new mod.
str/dex/sta priority for growth. you need it any every encounter.
go for weapons that deal lethal or aggravated damage. bashing is useless. strength and dexterity/accuracy are always key. for christoph stick with the exquisite broadsword. might have low dmg but hits fast and consistently. shield/greatshield for the offhand. max bloodhealing and celerity fast. max theft of vitae afterwards. the rest should have around 50 strength as well, for armour purposes. max feed and bloodheal first, rest afterwards. polearm/glaive for wilhelm, serena gets broadsword and shield like christophe while erik get the 2h sword.dont pull more than 2-3 enemies at once, so dont charge into rooms blindly. when up against tremere, make sure to pull them around walls, so they do not use their fireballs at long range. activate celerity and potence and prügel them the scheisse aus dem leib.
if you keep all this in mind the game is rather easy.
The game is pretty good... where it lacks in difficulty is by Vienna Teutonic Knights Prison. When you get there you are pretty much so op that everything dies really really fast.
I always used the Exquisite Flamberge, and a shild in offhand, even in modern days, thats also the key to survive the modern nights. You keep your equiped weapons after the final fight and can find them after you awake. Those weapons are the best ingame, because modern nights lack good melee weapons and the Guns suck big time. So don`t even try guns and stay with melee.
With this one, if what you're trying isn't working, try something else. There's always another option, another strategy or tactic you didn't consider. I'm coming back into this one, looking forward to my favorite character interaction with Dev Null, and of course kicking the crap out of the Society of Leopold.
Pissed-Off Christoff FTW!
The early- and mid- game are quite hard, especially on, well, hard setting.
Enemy is strong, and your fledgelings are weak.
But if you minmax the stats of party and equip them well, they will hack through anything.
That being said, even geared party will wipe under heavy CC chains from Tremere/Draw out the Beast of Tzimitsche
I usually move Christoff towards heavy magic usage, being lead character who inherits all through the ages - he gets all the fancy books, all the fancy jewelry and so on.
I usually stop his STR around 30-35 so he can wear chainmail and that's it.
The rest goes into DEX/INT/etc magical stats.
Basically, when you get Theft of Vitae and max it, the game becomes easy mode, because it 1-shots any human opponent no matter how armored they are, and when you max Fire to spam Firestorm, its curtains. The most ridiculous setup is invisible Chris showering everything in fire. I have Gangrel eye in one hand and berserker fang in the other, for the magic RP.
If you are careful and pick up all bonus books, by the endgame you can solo anything with just Chris.
All of that being said, you can also pump everything into STR/DEX, with some Celerity and Potence, and whack stuff into pieces with Airnkurn Blade (relic 2h sword picked up in Teutonic Knights base).
My party members are usually fully armored and armed with heaviest weapons possible.
Even Selene has Great Axe. All their stats are pumped into STR until you can wear heaviest armor and weapons, then DEX for dodging.
I turn off all their abilities except healing. They are basically murderous machines, 1-shotting anything with Exquisite Axes - highest damage weapon in Medieval.
When you get into Modern era, you can have fun party with Chainguns and such, but getting enough ammo is annoying, so I tend to stick with melee.
Again, nothing stands a chance against a full mage Chris, showering enemies with Firestorm, with occasional Ice Prison. Suck enemy vampire dry with Theft of Vitae and he is reduced to basic attacking.
the thing that i enjoy is that there are so many ways to cheese out the party to make the game easy. one of these days i will do a low humanity run.
