Game launch failing due to GameGuard errors
The Problem: When this problem arises, players can’t start the game at all.
Why It Happens: The anticheat software is catching false positives.
Frequency: About 1 in 150 players are reporting this issue. But when it does happen: it’s happening all of the time.
What We’ve Done / Are Doing: We’re working with the anticheat vendor to see what adaptations we can make. When we do have solutions, those will be rolled out automatically via the anticheat on game start.
What Players Can Do: We’ve learned that one workaround is to close other running software. We’ve found that the game has a particular challenge running alongside antivirus, fan cooling, or streaming video overlay programs. We would love to have some community support here. If you identify programs that the anticheat software can’t get past, can you let us know? We can work on getting those legitimate programs whitelisted so you can keep them on and still run the game.
According to the explanation on their FAQ page, the 114 error has nothing to do with cheating or false positives.
It's an initialization error. This means that execution failed for some reason.
Perhaps there is a conflicting program.
Or it may be blocked by your antivirus.
Causes can vary.
If you tell me the details of the error situation, I may be able to help.
How many seconds does it take for error 114 to appear after running the game?
Is GameMon.des or GGSetup.des in the process list in Task Manager?
Can you force them to 'End Task'?
Does the 'play' button on Steam change to 'stop' and then return to 'play'? Or does it not return to 'stop' until I reboot the computer?
Enjoy the game and let me know if you encounter any problems.
Go to steam.
Right click game.
Click properties.
Click installed files.
Click browse.
Click tools.
Click ggunist (application)
Uninstall game guard automatically.
Then start game as normal.
I do run Medal.tv Capture Software for clips; along with Overwolf. I closed both programs and the game is still unable to run.
Man if this was that easy I wouldn't have posted this thread x)
1. STEAM Menu - Configurations - Downloads - Clear download cache
2. STEAM Menu - View - Big Picture Mode - Play the HELLDIVERS 2
Go to Steam and right-click on Helldivers 2, then click Properties, then Installed Files, then Browse, then Tools, then run gguninst to uninstall Game Guard.
Shut down everything, and restart your PC. (make sure it's properly shut down I had issued the one time I didn't shutdown it down properly.)
Open Steam and run the game. Don’t open anything other programs until the game starts. I found that if I joined a Discord Voice Chat Channel before running the game I’d be at square one again.
Hope this helps someone else.
Overwolf has mutated into a ...dogsh.. software by now for quite some time , known to cause massive issues due to its hooks used for overlays, simply closing these kind of apps is probably not removing background service that might come along.
