Impossible to start the game even after GameGuard update
Hi, the title sums up the situation. I still get the error 114 even after the update, fresh install and also tried all the tricks to make it work. Anyone help ?

I found this on there website:

Game launch failing due to GameGuard errors
The Problem: When this problem arises, players can’t start the game at all.

Why It Happens: The anticheat software is catching false positives.

Frequency: About 1 in 150 players are reporting this issue. But when it does happen: it’s happening all of the time.

What We’ve Done / Are Doing: We’re working with the anticheat vendor to see what adaptations we can make. When we do have solutions, those will be rolled out automatically via the anticheat on game start.

What Players Can Do: We’ve learned that one workaround is to close other running software. We’ve found that the game has a particular challenge running alongside antivirus, fan cooling, or streaming video overlay programs. We would love to have some community support here. If you identify programs that the anticheat software can’t get past, can you let us know? We can work on getting those legitimate programs whitelisted so you can keep them on and still run the game.
if my maths is right 1 in 150 is about 20,000 people who can't play the game.
Is everyone getting error code 114?
According to the explanation on their FAQ page, the 114 error has nothing to do with cheating or false positives.
It's an initialization error. This means that execution failed for some reason.
Perhaps there is a conflicting program.
Or it may be blocked by your antivirus.
Causes can vary.

If you tell me the details of the error situation, I may be able to help.
How many seconds does it take for error 114 to appear after running the game?
Is GameMon.des or GGSetup.des in the process list in Task Manager?
Can you force them to 'End Task'?
Does the 'play' button on Steam change to 'stop' and then return to 'play'? Or does it not return to 'stop' until I reboot the computer?
I never got the error unless I bypassed the script installation, Steam just endlessly prompted "launching install script" endlessly. The funny thing is I booted the game to check the install message AND THE GAME JUST LOADED. ZMG :O, I Don't know why.

Anyway, I'm glad the game ran well :)
Enjoy the game and let me know if you encounter any problems.

Easy fix.
Go to steam.
Right click game.
Click properties.
Click installed files.
Click browse.
Click tools.
Click ggunist (application)
Uninstall game guard automatically.
Then start game as normal.

+1 - Unable to play the game this morning. I hit the play button and it closes moments after. I never see the nGuard software pop-up though, like it usually does.

I do run Medal.tv Capture Software for clips; along with Overwolf. I closed both programs and the game is still unable to run.

Man if this was that easy I wouldn't have posted this thread x)
If you get an installing scripts error, there are two things you can try.
1. STEAM Menu - Configurations - Downloads - Clear download cache
2. STEAM Menu - View - Big Picture Mode - Play the HELLDIVERS 2

OMFG i had the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem, ive tried every single solution i found and anything worked till i started it today on big picture mode and it worked, this make no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense
unfortunately that didn't do it for me :/
Update, now and then I still have this issue. and I fix it by doing the following:
Go to Steam and right-click on Helldivers 2, then click Properties, then Installed Files, then Browse, then Tools, then run gguninst to uninstall Game Guard.
Shut down everything, and restart your PC. (make sure it's properly shut down I had issued the one time I didn't shutdown it down properly.)
Open Steam and run the game. Don’t open anything other programs until the game starts. I found that if I joined a Discord Voice Chat Channel before running the game I’d be at square one again.

Hope this helps someone else.

you are using Bitdefender. Dont use 3rd party antivirus or firewall software its just not worth the trouble . Windows Defender is a absolutely sufficient protection for all purposes and causes zero issues for gaming ive been using it exclusively ever since windows 7 now.

Overwolf has mutated into a ...dogsh.. software by now for quite some time , known to cause massive issues due to its hooks used for overlays, simply closing these kind of apps is probably not removing background service that might come along.

I don't know what the fix is, I just know how the problem arises:

You have an AMD CPU &/or GPU. Game Guard is for some reason trying to launch on the 32 bit version of itself on AMD rigs and failing to do so.

"C/Windows/SysWOW64/GameMon.des" is the file running the background service called "nProtect Game Monitor Rev 2697 (32 bit)"
(If you check task manager).

Gameguard monitor 2697 is a 32 bit version of one of their anti-cheat monitors. The 64 bit version that needs to be running is in your Helldivers 2 folder (Called: GameMon64.des (In Task Manager, called: nProtect Game Monitor (x64) Rev 299))

It seems that only Nvidia/Intel Rigs are capable of running the game without having this issue. Meaning the game has compatibility issues with AMD rigs.

When trying to close out of helldivers (after the Error Code 114), the 2697 monitor is still running for some time, for some reason. The first time it will launch 2 instances, this is where I believe the software is tripping over itself and giving us code 114, stating that we have an application interfering with the launch, since we can't close out the application, we continuously get the error message.

The more times I try to run it the more copies of the background process pile up and I'm unable to close them out, I need to wait 'a little while'.

I'll be going around forums and posting this same analysis in hopes that someone figures out a workaround while the devs, hopefully, work on a patch.

I hope this helps !

happening to me and I am all Nvidia and intel
