Requires PS Network account?
I dont own a playstation console and never had the need to make an account on Playstation Network. Reading the requirments for this, even if I intend to play on PC/Steam only I still need to create a PSN account? Or is it a badly worded - accept Sony's EULA?

It will mostly be a token account to access the crossplay function.

Except crossplay is supposed to be optional, so the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ account should be optional. Not to mention plenty of other games do crossplay without extra accounts. Steam needs to stop letting publishers do this ♥♥♥♥. The only account you should need to play any game is the one you bought it with. People should be complaining more. In this case, it's just PSN, but it's yet another unnecessary account if you don't console game. In my case, it's yet another reason I don't bother with PC versions of stuff like this. I'm likely going to try it on PS5.

"This is an inconvenience, so I am going to buy it on ps5, so that Sony gets 100% of the sale instead of giving 30% to Valve"

And that's why Sony has an incentive to make the PC experience inferior.

You're still connecting to the galactic campaign system, which apparently is running through Sony's network. For better or worse.

PS5 quality mode will be 30fps or they will make 60fps with way less eye candy. The pc port is far superior if you have the right hardware. The only downside is that the pc version for now doesn’t have haptics support when using ps5 controller. The psn login was implemented for cross save, cross progression, friends list.

♥♥♥♥ Haptics. I turn off all that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyway. I still prefer console. 1080@60fps is fine. I play EDF games that way. I'm just glad this isn't being gimped by a PS4 version.
Just make the account lol. It takes five ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes, or less.

That's NOT the point. Look what a ♥♥♥♥ show streaming services became. Now it's games. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ launchers weren't bad enough. Now every publisher is requiring an extra account for everything. The only account you should need to play a game is the one you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bought it with. I don't want 30 gaming accounts when 4 or less should be enough depending on which platforms you use, but sheeple like you keep allowing it and dismissing the annoyance.

People are still literally asking about this requirement on Discord like every other hour. It's just really not explained on the HD2 store page sufficiently imho.

They could've simply explained on HD2's store page:
After installing Helldivers 2, PC/Steam players will be prompted to create a a free PSN account (NOT a paid PS+account, which is for Sony-console gamers), and then link that account to Steam, in order to play. Once linked, you don't need do anything further with PSN.

This step is required to play the PC/Steam version of Helldivers 2.
It's akin to The Division games requiring us to create an Ubi account and link that if we purchase The Division games here on Steam.

I'm not keen on it, but generally it's a simple one-time process that you don't need to mess with or remember a password for, once the "linkage" of accounts is completed.

Devs on discord said haptics work on PC.

To be fair, it is flagged on the steam store page, which is why I checked it out before dropping the cash.
