There are tutorials in Trainz which show how to "drive" the loco's.
There are two options available when driving, they are Realistic (Cab mode) and DCC (easy mode).

Oh gosh, between T:ANE and TRS19 question :)
Bottom line is that I have only started T:ANE a couple of times since purchasing TRS19 and yes is definitely worth changing to for myself. T:ANE is very good of course but TRS19 is excellent. It's performance is a lot better (still need to adjust performance to the pc's capabilities as per normal). I have had minimal crashes or problems so far.
The new pbr textures and turfix/clutter is a very nice addition. More of the textures are being released on the dls.
I will pop in the Auran forums link (just in case you may not have been there) as there is a lot of chat going on there regarding TRS19 etc.
