Also why do some people stretch the "Grim" nature of WHF if it comes from tabletop gaming where you paint your units in a colourful manner. And did you take a look at some of these? Part of them look goofy and cartoony, especially the Skaven ones. I mean the whole concept of Skaven is kinda goofy.

WHF is more as just being "Grim".

Frankly, i am not sure anymore if GW is actually still involved in this project. Do you have any proof that GW has to apporve anything at this point?

Also, the lore is grim. People painting their goblins pink doesnt have anything to do with the lore.

Like some kind of contract? Obviously not. But considering that GW was able to prohibit the colour change of Skaven eyes in a trailer, it is safe to assume that we wouldn't see this if GW is against it.

Also, the lore is not just grim. The universe always had this cartoony, goofy side. I mean where else do you find Dwarfs consisting to 90 % just of hair, carrying a candle on their head ( http://store.miniwargaming.com/images/D/dwarf-miners-regiment.jpg ). And if the whole concept of a giant Hamster Wheel ( https://gameoftravel.com/miniatures-gallery/skaven-doomwheel/ ) is not goofy to you then I am honestly irritated.
yeah, this hat is amazing, instantly bought it

I've never been into Battle part, but in my opinion it's different in terms of mood to Fantasy Roleplay - of course in the latter world interpretations is finally up to you, but even core books did portrait world as grim.

Figurines have to be caricaturisted, but for role-play people tend to go for 'realism' approach, at least in enviroment I did play WFRP.

And I've always perceived Vermintide as a Fantasy part.

I do not say that WHF is not grim. But I do say it has more sides than JUST being grim. So saying it doesn't fit with the WHF world is wrong as these elements always have been present.

And thanks to the confirmation of Julia we can say for sure that GW is of similar opinion.

Yes. I agree. GW is the kind of company that likes to keep really close to their licenced IP.
To be fair, GW has a bit of a track record of letting companies ♥♥♥♥ out its IP too, with other games.

The process seems quite random at times.

That with the Skaven eyes was years ago, if i recall correctly. I do believe that GW had something to say during the development of the game, but i doubt that they are consulted for every new content update.

In regard to your examples here, a very old dwarven miniatur doesnt really speak for your points mate. Lets show the dwarfen miniatures from the last edition of WHF, shouldnt look that goofy there. We could also argue about the Doomwheel being goofy, but i dont think we will come to a proper conlcusion there.

There is still no actual evidence of the lore being not entirely grim. The only real joke faction are the greenskins, because they are just ridiculous by nature, but on the other hand, they are also one of the most brutal factions in Warhammer. So, as long as i dont see any Jesters running around the battlefield, poking the enemy with a stick and running away with a hysterical laughter until both armies start to sing and dance, its a grim universe.

Every single sound and pixel is approved by GW for every single GW game.

But why using it as a cosmetic man? I thought we will stay true to the grim athmosphere of Warhammer and dont do those jokes. If you want to go the joke route, them implement greenskins, they are the funny part of Warhammer.

WHF is nowhere near as grim as WH40K. The latter is grimness incarnate.

Alright. Guess its going further downhill for GW then.

Both are basically the same man. Its just constant war, either on one planet or a whole galaxy. If we are going with no grim at all, then lets use War- and Starcraft, the ♥♥♥♥♥ versions of Warhammer.

Leaving aside the Fantasy/AoS divide and the hit and miss license games (some of which have been amazing), GW has IMHO much improved since the departure of Kirby and his nepotism.

WHF is more than just simple 'grimdark', it has a lot of humour in it, especially in the older books and stories. It's just that it goes hand in hand with the dark world.
