Xbox controller support?
Would love to see Xbox controller support, not everyone can afford touch at the moment.

If you want to play this with a controller, than just play the original game! Don't make developers waste their time for implementing controller support in games that were never meant to be played this way.

I want to play it with a controller, but I aslo want to experience it in VR. I've played the original game at least 10 times. This thread is not about playing the game with a controller. it's aout playing the VR version with an Xbox controller instead of the new 'Oculus Touch Controllers' which some of us cannot afford yet.

If they had just released VR support for the original and released this one seperately as it's own standalone, there would be no issue. I might open a car yard where people can buy cars without steering wheels.

That's the joke. People have become extremely angry at me for suggesting that the game should have KB and mouse and gamepad support as well as touch. Cars should come with steering wheels, FPS games should come with KB and mouse. Throw in all the extras you want, but if the car doesn't have a wheel, it is pointless.

Im a massive fan of keyboard and mouse in FPS games, but I don't mind the Xbox controller for VR games. I did try a VR game once with keyboard and mouse.... but couldn't find the dam keys!!! hehe.

The option should be there for both. If MineCraft VR can have keyboard and mouse, XBox pad and Touch as options, then so can this.

After reading through this thread multiple times (and the other one; once was enough there) and enjoying the holiday spirit here, we came to several conclusions:

1. While we still believe that motion controllers should be used with the game for the best possible experience, we are ready to give it a try and implement experimental gamepad support. It's not a trivial task as some of you already noticed and it will take us some time but we're still willing to try and make it work. We just love you like that.

2. Even if we are successful in adding gamepad support the end result might be an experience that's somewhat similar to playing FPS games on keyboard vs keyboard & mouse combo. To drive that point home, the only way we'll be OK with this is if we clearly label it in the options menu:

"a) Motion controller master race"
"b) Gamepad peasants"

3) We'll also be looking at adding support for rubber chickens, but no promises here. Would just a rubber chicken skin for gamepad/controller be ok with you guys?

If we're all in agreement on this, we'll proceed with implementing experimental gamepad support. Thank you!

That's great news! I think we'll find in the future in general, that people will want to be able to seamlessly transition between traditional gaming controls and monitor access and standing +VR + and any combination of input devices and accessories and locomotion syles and be able to switch back and forth in the course of a single save/campaign.

At this point, he should just get the normal version.

What's the whole point of getting VR if it's to have no wand?

Prolly another one with Google Cardboard that complain that he can't get proper experience xD.
