Linux graphical errors

I'm trying to run Left 4 Dead 2 (Beta) on my laptop. Every time I start the game, I get a screen that looks something like this.

Can anyone help deduce the issue here and help me fix it?

Thats sounds like pretty good reason.

I have laptop with Intel VGA of similar age and it can't run anything source based (or anything with decent graphics, on Windows nor Linux)

But after some of recent updates I can actually launch source games (although graphic is heavily corrupted.) It would just crash before, so at last is getting better.

I'm afraid the Linux drivers for first-generation Intel GPUs don't support all the functionality that Source games need to be playable.
