About the skins for characters...
I see in the screenshots section that a lot of people have modded their l4d survivors and/or infected, to look different. You can see infected looking like bright green ghosts and a bright blue witch.
The question I want to ask is - don't these really bright character skins give an unfair advantage to a player? They can spot the infected or even SI way sooner than a player who has not altered the game in any way.
I remember that people were doing this in CS 1.6 and Source, where they would put a bright color skin on a character to spot them easy in really dark areas.
What do you think about this?

I have to agree with you. I havne't played a game of versus since the Workshop patch came up, but if you are able to make infected glow, that is a game breaking mod that shoud NOT be allowed for versus.

Perhaps Valve should look into making a modded versus mode and an Unmodded Versus mode that autimatically disables any and all modifications to your game.

Then again, it might already do that for all I know.

Official servers disable all skins.
And yeah they can cause problems, easy to see infected, making bile invisible, etc etc

I'll admit that it is a little unfair. However, with that said some people give themselves godmode and other things. As long as they don't drag their mods into online play (besides maybe campaign if they can get a group with the mod) I'm perfectly alright with letting people use their mods like that.

Versus on the other hand... No. Making special infected glow is painting a bullseye on characters that would otherwise blend into the mobs. I'm sure that it isn't possible to use it in versus though, because everyone would have to have the mod. Assuming it's like campaign's mod requirements anyways.

Not all official dedicated servers for campaign have it set to pure. There a lot of co op dedicated unpure servers out there. I have been playing on them for like 2 years now.

Ah, I don't play campaign that often other than to do custom maps (which rarely work with official) so I wouldn't really know. With co-op it really doesn't matter though, it's not hurting anyone really since everyone is on the same team. And if the team doesn't like having a cheater just kick him.

I guess you have a point there, Bikes, but I am more concerned about versus.

i think it takes the joy out of a game you want those moments where your scared and surprised bright coloured zombies would be good training for noobs but for a real game make them all invisable
