Checking or unchecking add-on causes freezes L4D2

I don't underestand what causes this but it's extremely annoying. I've already tried veryfying the integrity of game cache. Any advice would be appreciated.

I get the same problem, but sometimes I dont even have to uncheck anything. My game will freeze while in the add-ons section. Forces me to shut down the game and restart, but it happenes everytime. So if I get the chance to manage add-ons I have to do it in about a 10sec window then leave.

I am subscribed to 50 addons in the workshop and I also have a lot of custom addons and my game doesn't crash when I check or uncheck something.

I have the uncut version, it's an strange issue.

If, upon loading up the game, I click the Add-Ons" menu, the game freezes.

To get around this, I need to click another option first. For instance, if I click "Campaign" and wait a sec for the gamelist to populate, then I go back to the main menu, the "Add-Ons" menu will now work. But I need to do it EVERY TIME I LOAD THE GAME.

So annoying.

EDIT: I'm subscribed to 4Below and Urban Flight. That's it.

EDIT2: I do have my own campaign uploaded to the Workshop though (not subscribed though). I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this. Laval, do you have your own work in the Workshop?

OMG!!! GREAT NEWS I THINK I FOUND A WAY TO DO THIS WITHOUT FREEZES :D I'M GONNA MAKE A VIDEO!!! EDIT: maybe I can tell how to do this you first launch l4d2 and then go to video options and change fullscreen to windowed and walla it stopped I don't think this will stop forever

I have the same issue, there are no problems if I check/uncheck mods, as long as I dont "click" in any mod to see the description I wont crash to desktop...
