Left 4 Dead

In UborHaxorNova's video. He says he is playing left 4 dead 2 but he is playing the first one. A friend told me that you can play the original left 4 dead from the 2nd one. Can some one please tell me how this works. Do i need to buy both or is there just an option that says original or what?

You can play all the original L4D1 maps on L4D2! The only difference is that you have melee weapons in L4D2 and not in L4D1!

What, did you really think Valve left out L4D in L4D2? Nah, they included Bill, Francis, Zoey, and Louis. You buy L4D2 AND CAN PLAY THE ORIGINAL l4d, JUST WITH THE NEW INFECTED AND NEW WEPS.

There are some subtle differences between L4D and L4D2, although most people don't care.

The first Left 4 Dead Campaigns are included in L4D2, as well as the second, the new Special Infected and (I think) weapons are available in them, too.

All of L4D1's content, short of the survival maps, is available in L4D2. The only thing present in L4D1 that isn't in L4D2 is the M1911 pistol. There are some differences between the original and the ported maps, as well as other smaller differences (many vocal commands have been cut for the original survivors, the "taunt" function hardly working and the "argh" function having only 2 or 3 lines) but those things really don't affect gameplay.
And you can get the M1911s and the survival maps through mods, many people recreated them.

Just to be a differing opinion, Left 4 Dead 2 is not a substitute for Left 4 Dead. You cannot play Left 4 Dead in Left 4 Dead 2, they are different games. The original campaigns have been ported and modified for L4D2, although they have limited functionality (survivor hands are misaligned, dialogue options reduced, crescendoes modified). The games are different in feel and function.

Rant over. (Buy Left 4 Dead!)
