What was missing on your Linux?
Thanks for the help

I may have found a solution but need to install back the games to try it out...
- check if Mesa is up to date
- install libtxc-dxtn
I'll post back if all's good.
Left 4 Dead 2 is not FTP, and I personally own Windows 8 at around $100... and own 7, and Vista, and XP... using Linux is about more than just the price of the OS, there's a ton of reasons. While not all games support it, it's still valid to use for gaming.
The OP simply needs to search the forums for his solution as I just did rather than starting redundant discussions.

And so it worked for me too : libtxc-dxtn and libtxc-dxtn 32 bit
And even if L4D2 was FTP... what would SteamOS changed on that ?
I didn't say it was, I was just making a sarcastic statement on yet another unnecissary thread. Please don't take it as a personal attack because you wear the open source OS as a tag. If you did, I apologize, not my intention at all.
