How can I create a server for me and 4 friends to play cooperative?

There will be 5 of us getting together this weekend. I'd like to play L4D2 together with them cooperatively. We don't want to play with strangers, just together through campaigns.

What is the easiest way for me to set it up so I can run a server for just us 5 to play together?

There is no 5 player co-operative play, but there is versus, pitting 2 teams of 4 against each other.
One person will have to join the infected team, but it will be unfortunately very unbalanced.

To create a match, just click on the Versus thing in main menu, and (I'm going from memory) there should be a "Create a match" option. Click on that, and change it to private. You might want to invite another friend so you can 3/3 on each team.

when you create the match set the settings to "private" and under server go to "Local server" this will start a server on your machine and will be private so nobody else can join. HOWEVER you can't enter commands in that manner, I'm not sure on how to start a server so commands can be entered, in case you want to do things like have commons at 500 HP

P.s: After seeing you want 5 players you'd need to install mods which means you need to install a dedicated server, find the mod and install it. I've no idea how to do so but you can easily find tutorials

There is a lot of information, but none of it is recent. I've done it in the past, but it was a long time ago and every time the game updates, it breaks.

Go to co-op and there should be something that says "Create server"

God you guys are dumbasses....
You need to google on how to set up a server, look for videos with more views as they will work.

Then you need to download sourcemod and download a plugin that allows to go above 4 player limit...hope it helps.
