And if you really want to learn how to play, join a few public games, observe other people's behaviour and do the exact opposite. You'll be fine!

The chances of that strategy blowing up in your face are quite slim.

-Note, just in case anyone thinks that's sarcasm, it is not. It is rare to find players who know what they're doing.

I wouldnt recommend public games right away.

Single player is best if someone wants to learn how to play. In public games if you dont know even the basics, people could easily insult or votekick you.

So you should play Single player, and when you learned the maps and the basics then try out playing online.

In Normal difficulty, you have to be an active ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to get kicked normally.
But I'd also recommend SP for a little while to get to know the very basics.

2 months ago i joined an Easy game, 1 minute later one of the players tried to votekick me because i told them dont waste the molotov on 2 commons.

No matter what is the difficulty setting, you can always meet idiots in this game.

Singleplayer mode isn't much more than a necessary evil, and only if you're new to FPS games and/or don't have even a single friend to play your first L4D2 game with.

Perhaps you can learn the basics playing alone, but it'll be annoying as hell with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bots.
Just don't act like an idiot and you'll be fine. Like most MP games, listen to veteran players and use some common sense. Better yet, be one of the select few who actually say they're new and ask for help directly!

As long as you don't do that on higher difficulties, you shouldn't have issues with your team.

I'm a noob too, and I'm NOT a runner/gunner type of player. I prefer stealth. Anyone can add me if they want.
