I dont think this game is for me, help

So the gameplay is great but 1 thing i can't stand and is a deal breaker for me is there is no progression, no stat tracking its like the whole game is opend up to me like I already beat the game, I wish it had Progression with the lvls, beat the game on normal to unlock advanced etc...

I beat a few lvls I exit and its like I never played the game? i could play the last lvl on the hardest difficulty, there is nothing to work towards, or am I missing somthing?

First of all, there are stats that are tracked. While they don't lead to level ups or unlocks, they are a good way to see how you're improving. In your achievements section, there is a link to click where you can check your stats such as weapon accuracy, map completion rate, among other things.

Second, the replayability on this game is never ending. In campaign mode, the same maps are played differently every time because of the AI director which changes what items appear and when and where SI attack, and even changing how the map is laid out Versus mode has infinite replayability as well as you fight better and better players, eventually ending up at a competitive level. Survival mode has its own replayability as you try and go for a better time each attempt.

Furthermore, you have the Workshop which allows you to mod the game as much as you want and play user-created maps, of which there are hundreds.

Also, while you don't unlock higher difficulties, there is sense of progression as most players begin on Normal or Advanced and eventually progress their way to Expert and Realism difficulties as their skill improves.

Ok all that sounds awesome so I logged in and checked the achievements, and the only thing i could find was clicking a plus sign on the achievment but unless im missing somthing, no where does it show what lvls I have completed on what difficulty.

Yea its just not that kind of game to begin with. You sound like its a completely new experience for you but youre trying to understand it as the majority of games youre personally familiar with and how they style their gameplay. L4D isnt call of duty, or Halo, or medal of honor. Its not that kind of game. Dont try to understand and compare it to them in their image. There is no game to beat, no 200 dollars to collect after you pass the GO that isnt there.

Everything is available so you can jump right into the online experience and bond with friends on a team to have fun on the chapters of your choice in any way you choose. You dont need a confirmation to look back on that tells you beat a chapter because you know you beat it at the moment you did.

The stat tracker built into Steam is fun but not entirely reliable. I've played entire campaigns with only a single weapon just to see how much it affects my accuracy, only to see my total shots fired with that weapon increase by 50 or less. It's pretty broken.

naw man. at most it tells you how many you survive, played and commons killed. if you like stats like that. id say resident evil 6. that keeps track like that/

but, this can still be fun every so often.

Well, you do have two achievements directly related to difficulty level; something to prove, which is beating all standard L4D2 maps in expert, and the real deal, which is beating 1 game in realism expert.

There are a few stats that are tracked by the game itself. If you play on the same server a lot, some of them are ranked and so will have your stats on that server.
