DDR3L @1600mhz
Hey guys !

Did someone here has already played or is actually playing with DDR3 1600mhz at Half life Alyx ?

I'm asking because there is nothing in the needed configuration about DDR3 or DDR4, and I've read here and there that it could not be playable in a such low RAM frequency.

I'm in trouble because I have all the specs needed, including 16go RAM, but this is DDR3.

So, given that my plan for diving into VR world largely depending on my ability to play this game, I'm interested in knowing if I had to put another 500€/$ (or more !) into upgrading RAM/MOBO/CPU.

Thanks in advance for those who know.

Memory is fine. You only heard otherwise from the same trumpet thats been blowing annoying misinformation since day 0.

I've heard of RAM speed causing issues, but it's more than DDR3 vs DDR4. It's the speed of the DIMM times the number of DIMMs. You can have faster DDR3 RAM than a stick of DDR4 if your mhz * DIMMs is greater. Some people think having a $600 GPU will save them from a single 16GB stick of RGB-lit DDR4 RAM or the game is poorly optimized but that's just gamer logic. If you have 2 or more sticks you're probably fine.

Ok, that's pretty much reassuring, thank you guys.

That say, I would prefer to hear someone who actually PLAYS with it, and makes it work fine, rather than "it should be fine".

I didn't see anywhere a DDR3 gameplay, or positive experience, at least not at 1600mhz.

Not saying you're not true telling me that would be fine, but I would like to CONFIRM the point !
