Is there a way to remove weapon upgrades?

I loved the pistol at first. I was deadly accurate. I hate the cco and want to go back to normal... Probably about halfway through the game. Thinking about a restart...

Only way to remove weapon upgrades is to load a save from before the upgrade.

Wouldn't it be possible to start a new game on the chapter you're on? That way you get the pistol back to normal, and they give you plenty of resin to upgrade how you like.

I don't know if you need to finish the whole game to make a new game at specific levels though.

I really hope Valve patches in a NG+ where you get to keep your upgrades and bypass resin.

A higher difficulty remix mode where we get to play with the upgrades would be great.

Basically, what Resident Evil does.

"cco"? The pistol upgrades are a reflex sight, a laser sight, and an extended mag. Which of those upgrades do you feel makes the pistol worse?

CCO would be close combat optic. That's just army talk for reflex sight. I preferred the iron sights, really. If it was single pane, sure... But I spend more time trying to locate the dot than just reflex shooting. I thought the iron sights were really sweet! I'm the same way in real life -- I hate optics.

This is absurd! What is the problem with allowing you to activate or deactivate a purchased upgrade? You spent your resin, you tried it, you don't like it or you don't need it, at the next upgrade station you can deactivate it by pressing the same button of the given upgrade to disable it. What's so complicated about implementing such a basic feature?

A work-around might be in this thread's first post. Not ideal, and you'd have to figure out what the map you are on currently is called. Also, if you are not close to one of those weapon upgrade-o-matic machines, you have to use base weapons until you find one.

Started the game new. Never bought the upgrade. It was awesome. Very good; Valve is back! Used iron sights the whole time. Noice ;)
