Survive the Nights

I am disappointed with this game, and I am going to explain why.
I got a refund for the game, and I’m writing this review to explain to the developers why I didn’t enjoy it.

Here are the points I noticed :

- From the very beginning, it was difficult to configure the controls properly, some keys simply wouldn’t bind, and I had to exit the key-binding menu and go back into it for each key I wanted to bind.

- The main things that need improvement are the menus, they are not ergonomic and visually unpolished.

- When zombies go through windows, they seem to teleport when you hit them, which is very disturbing.

- I also quickly found areas on the map where zombies simply cannot attack you. In practice, it is therefore possible to exploit these spots to survive the nights safely, except possibly against ranged enemies, though I’m not sure if any actually exist in the game (I got my refund after about 2 hours and 30 minutes of playtime, so I did not have time to test everything.).

- The combat system is very clunky, you can hit a zombie from several meters away. You clearly should not expect an experience on the level of Dying Light (the first installment from 2015), where you truly feel the impact of each hit, with a very advanced gore system that allows you to dismember zombies, which themselves are also particularly well-crafted.

- Character models look outdated like something from the PlayStation 3 era.

- The game doesn’t support DLSS and shows quite noticeable aliasing at 1080p.

- The translations in the game are incomplete.

- Zombie bodies disappear very quickly.

- In first-person view, you can’t see your own body when you look down.

- I also noticed a bug where two doors spawned inside each other, trapping zombies behind them.

- Some textures overlap (I observed this on the floor of a warehouse), and certain objects actually float in the air, not being properly aligned with the ground.

- Ambient sounds feel artificial and do not really match what is happening on screen.

- We also noticed that in multiplayer, when I reloaded my weapon, my friend could not see the animation, the action was simply not synchronized over the network.

Finally, the game offers no real story or plot, which highlights the lack of features and detail, reinforcing the sense of emptiness.
