Public Pre-Alpha (Download + Changelog)
The public pre-alpha is available for download from the official Orcish Inn website[orcish-inn.stevencolling.com].

Small Update 0.1.2

The pre-alpha update was released on the 8th December 2016.

Highlights

  • Put beetles in your compost box to increase the speed with which items decay and therefore fertilizer is produced!
  • Put bones and skulls in your compost box to increase the quality of fertilizer. This is relevant, because when fertilizer is applied to crops, the fertilizer's quality affects the crop in respect to the crop's so-called "Applied Item Rating" (putting a lot of zero quality fertilizer on the plant will make the harvested crop's quality worse).
  • Fixed the Japanese font files so fans can make fan translations to Japanese (and other languages); there is a guide in the Steam forums with more details;

Changes

  • ADDED purpose to beetles: if put in a compost box, they increase the rate on which items decay in the box and therefore the speed of the fertilizer production; every new day, all the beetles in a compost box get lowered by 1 quality and the same amount of other items in the box get lowered equally, too; beetles don't get "depleted" when there are no items to get lowered in quality;
  • ADDED purpose to bones and skulls: if put in a compost box, they increase the quality of fertilizer in the compost box; every new day, the bones and skulls get lowered by 1 quality and fertilizer in the box gets increased in quality with the same amount; bones and skulls don't get "depleted" when there is no fertilizer to improve or if it already has a quality of 6;
  • CHANGED how long movement is locked during fishing (movement is unlocked when the fishing float is back) to prevent walking into water when ending fishing
  • CHANGED the Hawker's following mode: he immediately flies to a newly build trading post instead of waiting for the next day
  • CHANGED items accepted by compost boxes: beetles, bones and skulls can be added and fertilizer can be put back

Fixes

  • FIXED cut dead trees disappearing instead of getting a tree stump
  • FIXED Japanese font files displaying the wrong glyphs
  • FIXED sawdust shown as brown mass in the compost box
  • FIXED a visual glitch when the mailbox had mail
  • FIXED the position of the "ready to harvest" ribbon for the dryroot plant

Small Update 0.1.4: Steam Demo Release

Highlights

  • Orcish Inn's pre-alpha is now available as a free demo on Steam (check the "Download PC Demo" button on the game's Steam store page)

Changes

  • REMOVED all mentions of my Patreon campaign within the game (it still exists, though!)

Fixes

  • FIXED loading languages case-sensitive (now, "language_japanese.xml" and "language_Japanese.xml" are both loaded)

Version 0.1.5: Small Update

This update consists mostly of fixes, tweaks and a bit of balancing. Most of the changes are directly related to player feedback, so very big thanks for that! :)

CHANGES

  • ADDED functionality to the guideposts: you can place them near the map's border and they create an entrance point for customers (if there is free space near)
  • ADDED an option NoMusicLoop to deactivate the looping of the music (it's looped by default, now, but before, the music made random pauses)
  • ADDED an option MuteMusicOnMinimize to set if the music should be muted when the game window is minimized (it's deactivated by default, so the music keeps playing on minimize)
  • ADDED an option HideTreeParticlesOnWind to deactivate the many leaves shown when a tree is hit by a wave of wind
  • ADDED a note shown after generating a new map, explaining that you can move around
  • ADDED holding ALT while the inventory is visible to move it a bit to the right (only available with small resolutions; temporary fix... sorry!)
  • ADDED a message when the pipe overlay is shown for the first time, explaining what it does (some activated it by accident and got stuck)
  • CHANGED plant density: now, it also considers surrounding plants of a different type
  • CHANGED how transferring multiple items at once works: if you select "transfer 10" and shift-click on an item, it will try to transfer 10 across all qualities instead like before, where it may transferred less than 10 when there weren't enough available of the currently selected quality
  • CHANGED the "Brawler's Disease" debuff so it can't appear until the player has reached a social rank of 1 or higher
  • CHANGED (moved up) the position of the amount of hunger restored in an item's description, so it's easier visible
  • CHANGED condition check for some farming related challenges (they are marked as solvable if solved before the challenge was visible)

BALANCING

  • BALANCED (slightly decreased) the hunger and stamina cost of using the hammer-axe tool
  • BALANCED (increased) the money at start from 20000 to 40000
  • BALANCED (increased) the amount of oat bread at start from 50 to 80
  • BALANCED (drastically decreased) the sell price of bread
  • BALANCED (reduced) cost of leaves tent from 200 to 100 leaves
  • BALANCED (increased) the chance to get items (like leeches) while swimming in the swamps
  • BALANCED (increased) the chance that treasure chests appear in sea plunder (seaweed piles) and from fishing
  • BALANCED (increased) the chance to fish junk and treasures

FIXES

  • FIXED a bug where storages and productions sometimes got paused accidentally
  • FIXED a bug where the object-related menu wasn't responsive anymore
  • FIXED a bug where the flow direction of rivers didn't get saved (sorry!)
  • FIXED a bug where a roof frame was added to the inventory when destroying a room
  • FIXED a bug where selling certain items (like fertilizer) to the Hawker spammed his inventory with single instances of it
  • FIXED a bug where the hay and straw crafting recipes were sometimes not available right from the start
  • FIXED particles spawned in the wrong place on destruction, for some of the objects like turf spots
  • FIXED a crash when displaying the cost of furniture objects
  • FIXED a crash when starting a new game and waiting a whole day while in exploration mode (it also doesn't count as a day passed anymore)
  • FIXED a graphic glitch where parts of the faucet where rendered at the wrong position while placing it
  • FIXED the instructions for the Hawker coupons (added that an empty address label is required too)
  • FIXED (clarified) in the tutorial how heavy hits work (you don't get less resources when making a heavy hit compared to making many normal ones)
  • FIXED a bunch of typos

Version 0.1.6: hotfix

If you had problems with customers not visiting your inn, please place a guidepost near the map's border, ensure that there is a path from there to your tavern and wait until next day (past night). With the next midday, the customers should come out of the map near your placed (and owned) guidepost!

  • CHANGED how guideposts work: you can select and "own" them to mark the preferred entry point for customers

  • FIXED a bug which prevented visitors from spawning

  • ADDED two new options "DisableScreenShakes" and "DisableCameraShakeOnHeavyHit" to disable screen shakes in general or for heavy hammer-axe hits only

  • CHANGED mouse wheel interaction: if a furniture description or item description is shown, the mouse wheel will scroll the description instead of switching tools

  • FIXED a bug where customers got stuck on the map and didn't visited the tavern
  • FIXED a bunch of bugs where customers didn't sit on chairs, sit together on the same chair or walked between two chairs a couple of times
  • FIXED a bug which reset the production progress of production machines after loading the save game

  • FIXED a bug where trying to pick up fertilizer from a compost box without actual fertilizer in it would put fertilizer onto the ground below the compost box
  • FIXED a crash when pressing the middle mouse button while flying around with the Hawker (in the beginning)
  • FIXED rain barrels so they don't accept beer as content anymore
  • FIXED the dye pool recipe for "Forget Me Nots"
